My mom was far sighted in one eye and near sighted in the other, so glasses were not an issue for her. I sure do miss her….

Cataract surgery was an eye opener.

Kidding aside, it made such a difference and the doctor put in prescription lenses.

Them damm floaters!

Oh, to have young eyes again! Cataract surgery certainly makes things better, but not as good as eyesight once was.

For Me it’s forgetting to wipe off sweat or rain from my glasses ;-)

Nothing wrong with my glasses, but everyone I see seems to have fingerprints all over their faces.

Them dangnabbits pixel noise in the eyes.

And having a scratch or a pit right in the line of sight doesn’t help. Oh yeah, the anti-scratch coating only lasts for about thiry cleanings.

I have to put my hand up to this. My glasses sit on the end table by my chair and always seem to get smudged. Every time I want to see “my comics” I need to wipe them clean again. Must be some kind of “ghost of eyesight past” that sneak in and smudges my lenses. Cheers

My glasses are always a mess. I keep cleaning them constantly.

Unfortunately, I can relate! Fortunately, all of my problems (so far) have always been fully “cleanable” by my ophthalmologist.

Or just his bushy eyebrows getting in the way. True story.

Or the fact that we should have gotten new glasses a long time ago. “Darn, these glasses are getting worn and scratched. I’d better make an appointment to get some new ones.”

When I went to have my eyes checked not too long ago, she was quite impressed with how clean my glasses were (didn’t need to change my prescription!) I did get a pair of prescription reading glasses and I can tell the difference between that and OTC.

So far when things look like that, a new pair of glasses clears things up for a couple years. I should be using bifocals but I decided to go with two pairs, one for computers, one for driving. Ben Franklin’s idea was a good idea when your book sat on a desk and the rest of the world was above that level.

And as each year passes, and I get blinder, I’ll just keep upgrading my prescription … ;)

I have worn eyeglasses since second grade. The teacher would put the arithmetic problems on the blackboard and even sitting in the front of the room I would have to walk up to the board, memorize the problem, return to seat and solve – repeat. Since both dad and mom wore eyeglasses not a surprise.

Over the decades of course vision got worse and then needed near vision glasses for reading. I currently have (not all new glasses – most are older ones and vision has not changed much since many of them were made, but was covered at the time for a pair of glasses a year when had medical insurance from husband’s job) -

Distance glasses – kept in house and used as needed when in or out.

Distance glasses -were suppose to be ones that changed to sunglasses, did not and did not go back in time to get them replaced – these are kept in our car as a spare pair or when I wear the wrong pair from the house.

Distance prescription sunglasses – kept in car.

Progressive lens glasses – again kept in house and used as needed in or out.

Progressive lens glasses which also change to sunglasses – in theory the only glasses I need – but not in actual life.

Near distance glasses – wear walking around in house as most comfortable for same – small house, distance glasses often overwhelming.

Packing for trips is a lot of fun.

Also – we do 18th century reenacting so I also have -

Modern small wire frame distance glasses – used when first started reenacting.

Modern small wire frame distance sunglasses. ditto -Keep in our van as general sunglasses now so I always have a pair in same also.

Then we found repro 18th century eyeglass frames so I have a pair of clear and a pair of sunglasses to use for reenacting. These are small round lenses and tie onto one’s head through holes in the back of the ear pieces (ribbons for same are long as they stay on me without tying and when I am doing embroidery or other close work at event I can drop them to hang off my neck on the ribbon so they.
