Only once did I ever sassed my grandma. About age 7. She whipped me with the cord on the electric iron. When my parents, I got another whipping. about 1953 or so. I learned to keep my mouth shut and be respectful ever since.
Actually the whole “gift giving” thing has gotten out of hand, especially when is designated for certain holidays. like Mothers Day and Fathers Day, Christmas, valentines day, birthdays.. and whole industries have developed because of it…. and thinking of things to get for someone else that has everything, has us all going out and getting “gift cards”, so they can get whatever they want…unless they are for a specific place… and while I do believe it’s ridiculous, I then remember that it is keeping lots of people from being jobless… and is driving our economy!.. Unfortunately, when times are bad, like now, when prices of our necessities and taxes and fuel grow faster than our income, it is those “businesses” that suffer the most… and even our pets, which many people have to give up when they can’t afford their food or vet bills anymore!!

Never buy your woman an ironing board for her birthday or you may wind up with an iron upside your head. Say it with flowers.

What kind of a birthday gift is that?? Can’t you afford costume jewelry, Chalkie?

Not daft. But seriously misguided.

An ironing board? I know somebody’s going to get hit with an iron on their wife’s birthday. What is this the 1940s?

He mistakenly asked for the quantity discount. He wanted the discount, but not the quantity.

Ruby will probably put that birthday gift where the sun don’t shine. I would encourage you to get her something else.

You’d better order a doghouse too.

Why would you even order one of them? And he better give that present anonymously.

Buying her an ironing board is like buying her a vacuum cleaner, you should know better
