I was told a good definition of the difference: Feeling bad has a definite cause. You feel bad because you’re tired, or because someone was rude to you, or because you have been under a lot of stress at work. It can change. Depression often has no identifiable cause and refuses to budge. It can come in cycles, or simple settle down for the long term.
The difference between frustration and depression: Frustration is when you miss your flight. Depression is when you make your flight, but don’t care if it crashes.
Everyone can have the blues. May last a day or two. When the Blues last longer than that, and none of your favorite things, people, or activities bring you joy, that’s depression.
This from a doctor of psychiatry? I get not wanting to work when you’re off the clock, but really!
Plus, it is a very serious issue that basically never got discussed for most of the time that Peanuts was in its original run. An attempt at a remotely realistic answer might have helped a lot of folks.

I think feeling bad is more physical. Like recently the heat makes me feel not so good, but I’m not really depressed about it!
Ellis97 about 2 months ago
I guess being depressed lasts a whole lot longer than feeling bad.
