Reminds me of when I started a high school science class. When the teacher was going over what we’d cover in biology, I guess I started grinning, because he looked at me and said something like, “Mr. Bump, I’ve taught your older brother and sister already, so let’s just stipulate that when you answer the questions, you’re giving the textbook answers and don’t necessarily believe everything.” I was a little disappointed, but I also knew we’d probably just run around the same bushes anyway. I wish I could go back and point out all the things in our text back in the 70s that aren’t taught as “scientific facts” anymore. Ah yes, science is self-correcting — except most things are still the same (or still useful) as when they were discovered hundreds of years ago, while some areas are “corrected” repeatedly.

Grew up with a guy who was a lot like Amelia during the formative years. He is now a Police Detective and a pretty dang good one.

A kid after my own heart. As long as I can give her back to her parrents at the end of the day or weekend.
