Bets the first kid one cookie, 2nd kid 2 cookies … this looks kinda like the old story about the Indian rajah asking the inventor of chess what he wanted for a reward.
tentacle is a flexible, mobile, and elongated organ present in some species of animals, most of them invertebrates. Most forms of tentacles are used for grasping and feeding.
“One of these days a guy is going to come to you and is going to offer to bet you that he can make the jack of spades jump out of a deck of cards and squirt cider in your ear. Do not take this bet, for as sure as you stand there, you are going to wind up with an earful of cider.” – Guys and Dolls
Question is, will he hoard the cookies for himself or find a way to distribute them to someone who doesn’t have any?
If you are in doubt about the likelihood that Caulfield actually might give them away, see Frazz Feb 8, 2015. He shows a side that hasn’t been seen in a very lo-o-o-o-n-g time and should have been seen a bit more often.
See, having Caufield’s attitude got me in a lot of fights at that age. It took me a long time to get that folk would much rather be wrong than be corrected.
While arms are distinct from tentacles (a definition specific to the limb featuring peduncles), arms do fall within the general definition of “tentacle” as “a flexible, mobile, and elongated organ” and “tentacle” could be used as an umbrella term.
My brother would pull that trick in me. I never paid up. “Thanks for the details, Caufield, but YOU are the sucker if you think I would actually give away cookies to a smart alek like you.”

Don’t you just LOVE those people who bring up a subject just to prove they know something you don’t?

A little knowledge—meaning “incomplete information”—can be dangerous, but ignorance is worse. Learning keeps us safe.
