I keep the clock radio as a backup if I have to get up at 4 to catch a plane. Besides, if I want to know what time it is in the middle of the night, I don’t need glasses to read it.
I still use the old clock radio. As someone “over 50” who’s always embraced technology (my hobby car with the manual transmission notwithstanding) for some reason I never got rid of the thing. I guess it serves its purposes: It wakes me up; it lets me see the time in the middle of the night w/o having to reach for my phone; and it serves as a navigational beacon when nature calls so that my toes don’t run into any furniture.
Honestly, I have to keep my alarm clocks out of reach when I’m sleeping. I’ve done that since my 20’s. The “snooze” button is always too tempting. By forcing myself out of bed to shut it off, I figure “I’m up now” and I get my day started.
It’s useful to see the time, when you wake up 3-5 times a night. I don’t need any help getting up in the morning, I just don’t want to do it at 3:20 am.

And you didn’t have to change the time on your phone today like you would on that old clock.

I still use an old one like that. It’s probably 30 years old.

Except on school days. The 8 year old twins need a bit of OOMPH to get up and going.
