Merry Christmas to one and all!

Reminds me of an old Dennis the Menace cartoon, where—on Xmas morning—the living room is knee-deep in toys, and the brat just says, “Is that ALL??”

Maybe it’s a good thing Mike was there…I’d hate to think that the “short one” would have had a mind to actually climb in the chimney to satisfy her curiosity. What a mess that would have been!

Enjoying the “FBoW” retrospective … Still seeing ones, like this, that I missed the first few times around. Merry Christmas.

The difference in age between Mike and April must be nearly the same as between me and my “baby” brother: 21 years. Mom was 21 when she had me, and I was 21 when she had Lane!

Yesterday, I think my granddaughter (7) had as many presents as her two older brothers combined. And then she went to her other grandmother’s house for round two. She gets round three on Thursday with my son.

This is also a time to bring on greed in children. As a kid I was taught that I would be getting only one toy for Christmas. Of course it was a real disappointment when my cousin received, from her aunts, uncles, more toys than I. It was a lesson on how to receive unfairness at a young age (ten years) and should be taught to other kids to learn when growing up into adults.

Appreciate what you’ve got, April. You don’t need more.

As Kim Darby said in ‘True Grit’ “A little bit is enough and a enough is as good as a feast.”

We got a lot of stuff when we were kids, and still have the 8mm home movies to prove it (since converter to DVD)

May the blessing of the Holy Theotokos be on everyone on this day of the Nativity. And may this start of Hanukkah be a blessed one for all.

(I’m Eastern Orthodox by the way if you haven’t guessed.)

This is April’s first Farley-free Christmas. Maybe that is something for her to reflect upon.
