Shh! We don’t want to give Mariah Carey ideas about Thanksgiving songs!

And some jolly old bird that flies down your chimney, filling your stockings with stuffing.

Or something like that.

The funny thing is that “Jingle Bells” was written to be a Thanksgiving song but became a Christmas carol later.

There are some good songs/hymns of/about giving thanks which could work fine as Thanksgiving Carols, such as:

Now Thank We All Our God (with hearts and hands and voices)

Praise and Thanksgiving (Father, we offer, for all things living …)

Give Thanks (with a grateful heart, Give thanks to the Holy One)

Thank You, Lord (Thank You, Lord, … I just want to thank You, Lord)

Thank You, Jesus (we bless You, Jesus, we praise You Christ, our Lord)

I want to hear the words to those songs.

“O Come, All Ye Hungry”

The ones about Jesus are Christmas songs. Snowmen & sleighs are about winter.

“Oh Little Town of Plymouth Rock”

“I Saw Mommy Kissing Tom Turkey”

“Here We Come A-Waddling (After Thanksgiving Dinner)”

RIP, Alice Brock, who inspired the greatest Thanksgiving song of all time.

Oh we need some cans of whipped cream

Thanksgiving has been my favorite holiday since becoming an adult. No stress of finding the “right” gifts, good food, leftovers, and a 4 day weekend.

“Over the River and through the woods” is not about Thanksgiving? sigh…

Down in South Florida, Christmas Carols have no meaning.

“I Saw Mommy Eating Pumpkin Pie” sounds potentially more scandalous than the Christmas verzion.

Adam Sandler wrote one, but I don’t recommend it.

Another Edison?

“Silent Burp…”

“Good King Butterball…”

“Rudolf, the Red-Nosed Uncle…”

“Go Rest Ye Stomachs, Gentlemen!”

“Carol of the Tums…”

Yingle, yangle, — Swedish doorbell chimes.

Shouldn’t that be “What Thanksgiving needs is carols?”

If the yams are jingling, don’t bother mingling. Leave the family dinner and get take out.

“We Gather Together,” “Faith of Our Fathers,” “Count Your Blessings” …

Since society goes immediately from Halloween to Christmas, my wife and I always referred to Thanksgiving as “Forgotten Holiday” We would wish each other “Happy Forgotten Holiday!” on the fourth Thursday of November.

Can’t sing while you’re eating. You’re supposed to be eating.

My wife likes “I Saw Mommy Eating Pumpkin Pie.”

It’s hard to find something catchy that can be sung with your mouth full.

Let him give it a try, it might catch on.

Silent Night comes after everybody goes into tryptophan comas.

I like, “We Wish You a Merry Side Dish”.

Also, it’s very difficult to sing carols with a mouth full of turkey stuffing.

“Carol of the Cranberries”.

Annnd it’s making me hungry

Get Weird Al Yankovic on it, stat!

“Oh turkey breast, Oh turkey breast…”

I think he’s onto something. Lots more good ideas in the comments.

Jingle Bells was already originally a Thanksgiving song called “One Horse Open Sleigh”!
