Food for thought

Don’t delete Earl’s cookies!

If you don’t have a tree, you can still put a garland somewhere.

hopefully it’ll curb her impulse to sing again

Now we know what Earl’s favorite part of the Holiday is!

Maybe Earl should learn to bake them himself.

Switch to a different set of traditions. Make some tamales!

No Santa Claus?

Sure do love those Christmas cookies, honey.

I’m w/ Earl. But then I’m not making Xmas goodies either. Hmm.

It’s a shame Earl has gotten older and is starting to forget things. Like where the kitchen is, if he wants someone to make them..

We’re in the same situation this year, but neither of us can have cookies so no need in even baking them. Christmas will be more or less like any other day for us.

That’s us, we only put up a tree this year because we had house guests for a couple of days

Just get the house ready and celebrate when they get back! What difference does it make? That’s what we did when daughter and SIL had Christmas at his parents house.

Dad was the heart of Christmas growing up. When he died, my quite frail mom said she missed him most around the holidays. That last year, she sounded particularly sad, so I borrowed the airfare and flew down to see if I could bring some cheer to her and her three cats. I taped a Christmas Tree shape in lights, to the bare living room wall. We wrapped two presents for each of her pals and put lots of cat nip in each one. The next morning, we had a Kitty Lovin Christmas. As I was leaving the next day, mom hugged me goodbye in a much better mood.

I’m not doing much this year, haven’t watched a movie. I only put up a few decorations outside, nothing much inside. Because of this, I keep getting the feeling I forgot to do something. I did make a Christmas goody though!!

It’s going to seem different without their daughter and grandson this year, that’s for sure! But they still have each other!

That is so me! I’m fine with no lights or tree but don’t take away my cookies!

Why don’t you try your hand at it, Earl?!

OK…….. don’t mess with the BAKED goods.!!!!!

I am like Opal this year, but I did make all the Christmas goodies that my family expects. I live alone so all those decorations are just work for me and I wasn’t in the mood for the Christmas songs either. I will spend Christmas Eve with my son and his family, then Christmas day with my daughter and her family. That’s plenty for me.

Opal & Earl are lucky. Here in the UK, Christmas for pensioners has been cancelled.

Bake Earl some cookies, Opal.

Shoulda had that done weeks ago, and everything put in the freezer.

As I see this toon, I am reminded about how my wife growing up, her and her siblings never got Christmas gifts. They were very poor and relied on the charity of others, and relatives for receiving any kind of gift. Today she cooks and bakes up a storm for us and family, as example, she made 72 dozens of cookies. Tis the season of giving. Opal make cookies.

Only when it benefits Earl will he complain…

He loves her cookies…………

Every year my wife says she won’t decorate and every year our house looks like it came from a Hallmark movie.

gotta draw the line somewhere!

Somebody’s gotta come out commercially with a tin of “Earl’s Favorite Cookies.” with a picture of Earl on the lid. I’s buy one for myself and a number as gifts.

Well, for this guy, I’m 100% in agreement even now that one ‘candy sprinkle’ costs a penny.

I predict a last minute flurry of decorating, gift buying, and baking. Just for the two of them.

Earl, at least you don’t have to go shopping for presents. I’d say giving up cookies is more than a fair trade.

Earl had better roll up those sleeves and pitch in to making the goodies. They need some “together” time.

Some things are non-negotiable.

Earl, this is where you step up to the plate and take Opal someplace fun for Christmas.

There is a compliment somewhere in that statement

Slow down there, Opal. Let’s not get carried away.

Wow ! Nelson’s parents are actually gonna et him spend the day with them ?

Earl prioritizes his digestion.
