Luann managed to channel her inner Scarlett O’Hara there (and Bernice said one thing but her expression said “Frankly Luann, I don’t give a dam*”)
Give Gorgeous Ann❤️Eiffel and see where she and the other ❤️Eiffelettes will be Stalking the Wild Shoog Daddies this week. And forget the rest of that horse puckey. Dilly! Dilly!
Luann has always been saddened by the think of all the things she wanted to do and to not knowing how to do them. Her behavior can become unnerving in the long run for those, like Bernice, who see her repeat it. But at least Luann shows to have dreams.
It’s funny how you can make it through life without ever settling on something. You will probably never get close to being famous or rich or even having an easy life, but it can still be not bad at all.
Funny how she had all those ambitions, yet today, when she could actually start working towards any one of those goals, she’s just floundering in college taking various classes in the hopes that something will stick.
Meanwhile in the present day she stumbles around with a vacant look on her face bragging about how she’s a blank slate with no particular hopes or dreams.
Okay, I know this is a comic strip, but Luann really reminds me of myself, an ADHD chick. My house is a mess and I went through a couple of majors and several careers, until I finally found joy working in tourism and theatre (professional and amateur). I hope she finds as supportive a partner as my Beloved.(Gawd, I’m rooting for a fictional character…smdh)
Does anyone here remember when the artistic change occurred that transformed the “Young Greg” characters into the current ones? Perhaps it might give us a clue about how long in real time will be required for Luanniverse time to progress beyond the current college years and career angst. It could be rewarding to see these characters grow up and marry, form families, pursue careers, and produce new characters as children. Even Shannon may reach her college years. Of course, we may find that these characters are still plodding through variations of the same adolescent conflicts, but that’s another stage of development for “old Greg” to address before he officially retires and passes the strip on to Karen and a subsequent generation wherein Luann becomes a “Mrs. Horner” type of advisor and inspiration.
It’s easy to ponder dreams like those when you don’t have any responsibilities and everything you need is being provided to you by your parents. Sadly, grown up Luann is still just as confused about her future as she was in grade school.
How many years later, Luann HAS stepped out that door, but still doesn’t know what she wants to be. Bernice knows, yet she still spends a lot of time in Luann’s bedroom.
Heck, go out the window, if you have to, just get started. I wanted to be an astronaut. That didnt’ work out but I became an electronics engineer, a dancer, a comedy writer, a masseur, a graphic artist, a software developer, a photographer, a cat whisperer …

It’s about goals, discipline and motivation. You can do it Luann!

Oh, who am I kidding? We all know she’s almost in the same boat 30 years later. ;)

Ironic. When she was this young she wanted to be this or that. So many possibilities.
Today she’s at college and doesn’t know what she wants to be. That’s life.

Author and teacher are real possibilities since Luann has already done some writing and teaching, the others… not so much.
