What? Nothing like “It went out on a date with this B-girl I met at Fort Dix in ’43!” or “It went out with a whimper” or “It went out like a Nehru jacket!”
I relate to this, when I was in the Naval Reserve it seemed like there were always people unable to do the physical fitness test because they hurt themselves preparing for the physical fitness test.
I’ve gone through PT several times in my life, starting in my late 40’s and I was never told to do sit ups to strengthen my core. Too many other options, especially for a senior gentleman.
When did Chester Hagglemore become a doctor? Did AtomiKKK KomiXXX go out of business because Les didn’t choose their adaptation of Fahrenheit 451 for his American Lit class?
There is the problem, sit ups as most everyone was taught to do them are bad for your body. Using the proper form and not doing too many will minimize the chance of injury.
He is correct. Situps are a recipe for disaster for your lower back. It’s like when you take a credit card and fold it in half back-and-forth. Eventually it weakens or breaks. Pilates are a much better way to strengthen the core without damage to your structure.

Okay, I’ll say it: this one is deliberately funny. Thumbs up.

To keep the doctor away, he should have focused on the whole apple (without a capital “A”).

So true, Cranky. Don’t listen to the so-called health experts. I peddled a bike 3 times a week for 3 years at the “Y” and now my knees are shot.
