It’s nice to have a dentist husband. They could afford to go on vacations outside their country. Most folks couldn’t. They either go on a road trip inside their country or go to a theme park or go camping, etc.

April is starting to clue in that Elly and John are still bearing the scars from their last family vacation over summer last year where they weren’t allowed to go into the states. Yes, April. The chances of you getting a vacation with your parents will only happen after enough time has passed for Elly and John to forget that horrible summer vacation. Until then, it’s vacations just for mom and dad.

It’s been only nine months since April caused Farley’s death? Seems like much longer.

Don’t most four/five year olds consider nine months to be an unimaginable eternity?

I’m with April on this one, that’s the kid of vacation most people can afford twice in a decade if they’re lucky

After what happened to Farley 9 months ago, shouldn’t Edgrr be the one concerned about John & Elly going away on vacation again?

Translation: “You get to do way cooler things than I do, and more often!”

Strip swings back and forth…from being short on money to let’s go on a holiday!

We could never take a trip without our kids, we would be miserable without them. They grow up too fast, enjoy them while you can. Empty Nester here.

Everything is relative.

MY last “real” vacation" was 35 days in Israel seven years ago. I’ve had days off here and there since, but to actually go somewhere? Nope.

At some point, my parents started going to Florida for vacation once a year. When she was still young enough, my paternal grandmother baby sat for us. We were good kids; so there wasn’t much problem.

Must be nice to have not only the money for multiple international vacations each year, but also the freedom to take them. At every place I’ve ever worked, taking that much time off (even if it had been possible and okay in terms of PTO allowance), would have been looked down on. Ugh. Nothing like a comic strip to stir feelings of jealousy!

April has yet to realize that when John and Ellie go on vacation, she too gets to go on vacation, from John and Ellie. A couple of weeks with the grandparents was always great fun.

My parents always went away over Labor Day Weekend. They’d have a grandmother come & stay with us kids & no one was to contact them unless it was the direst of emergencies. It’s no wonder that a) they were married for 67 years and b) they had 7 kids!

Congrats to Team Canada. They won some kind of hockey game.

YES…

John and Elly should be grateful that there are other people willing to babysit their kids while they go on vacation. Not everyone has that benefit. They should also be grateful that there’s a family farm they can ship their kids off to for the Summer.

Well, soon is a relative thing isn’t it, especially at a very young age ! ;-)

And last year Elly lied her head off to April about why she couldn’t come(2024/04/01). What bull is she going to spout off this time?

I couldn’t imagine going on holiday back in the day without my children. People today don’t seem to have any sense of responsibility or family values.

We haven’t been on a vacation in over 15 years.
