I used not to realize that jelly in America is what the British know as jam. Jelly in Britain is the same thing as Jell-O in America. So, when I was younger, I used to think that Americans would slice up wobbly Jell-O and put it in their sandwiches :D
We donât have grape jelly in S. Spain. The standard jellys are peach, strawberry, raspberry and greengage. In the 90s they were putting the excess production of grapejuice into boxed juices; youâd âpeach and grape nectarâ, âpear and grape nectarâ but no one has ever considered grape jelly.
Jelly (in the U.S.) is made only from fruit juice. Jam is made from actual fruit. Even better is fruit spread which is less than 50% sugar, which is required for jam.
My wife can easily have butter with butter. She buys the real farm made local, costs a bit more, but my daughter is mad because she herself is now a âButter Snobâ and that is expensive.
Woodstock can have my share of grape jelly. Growing up poor, grape jelly was the only jelly mom bought, because you could get a large jar of grape jelly for the same price of a smaller jar of any other kind of jelly, jam, or preserve. Grape was also the flavor that they made for kids medicines back then.
