That was how scripts for Star Trek TNG used to be written. “Captain, sensors detect dangerous (insert technospeak here) activity inside the anomaly”.

    The technique is well known.

Leak whatever information to someone who will publish it as ‘sources say’…

If you have Fox ties, they will saturate several news cycles with the provided information and magats will inundate all social media with the same parroted information. Trump will claim ‘people have told me’ and repeat the ‘information’ at rallies and on TV.

The technique was perfected for the invasion of Iraq and has been practiced by the right wing ever since.

Cruelty is the point was recently added.

Jen Sorensen’s Political Comic had an excellent description of this today. She’s always great!

I had a career as one of the grunts in a big corporation. Sadly, sometimes that’s WAY too close to the truth.

Look at all the hoops one must jump though to retrieve a coupon at the grocery store, get a few cents off on a gallon of fuel for your vehicle, or get discounts on just about anything the consumer needs or wants. Big data allows marketing to dictate what any company is trying to sell you. Amazon has done this so well with it the company gets us to watch their programming on TV, buy oodles of stuff, and now the company peddles its’ “Web Services” to other companies. Don’t get me started on Walmart. And, yet, both are among the many companies I patronize.

Primary Care Physician: here are the 20 quality measures you must meet at each visit. You get 15 minutes. LOL! Not really. It will come out to about 8 minutes. Then you can do all your charting later so the patients don’t have to wait. Hang on, we, the executives and insurance companies will still tell you it’s not good enough. Now make that look good!
