Quill is a deep guy – not like most shallow teen boys. He knows beauty is fleeting and/or a facade. Personality is what keeps the relationship going. Luann is out of Quill’s league. She is still stuck on the appearances stage. I think Bernice would be the one who understands Quill’s view. Or Delta. Luann needs a girlfriend talk stat. Have B and D blast her for being stupid.

Lu would be even more attractive if she didn’t talk while she was eating.

Quill, don’t ever try to understand a woman, it’s not possible.

It is funny the people we are envious of. There are people I have envied because of one reason or another – she is thinner than me, she has a nicer house, she is so organized. Yet when I look deeper into those lives, there are things NOT to envy – she had an eating disorder, she can’t really afford that house and is close to bankruptcy, she is OCD. You get the picture! And yet there could be people out there who envy ME for some crazy reason! Where I am going with this is… there is a reason Tiffany loves to antigonize Luann. Tiffany feels threatened by her, or has her own envy. It has been mentioned that Tiff doesn’t have a close family life. She knows Luann does. If she TRULY thought she was better than Luann, they wouldn’t be such rivals. (OK, I will shut up now. LOL)

Tiff’s beauty is like that of a Kardashian. You have to be afraid it will melt/explode. Very plastic.

Well, I can’t help but think Luann isn’t as great as she (and some posters on here) thinks she is on the inside. She’s acting like an obsessed control freak regarding Quill. It should send him red flags, he doesn’t seem like the type to want a co-dependent, jealous girlfriend. Besides that she’s kinda self-absorbed, flaky, and selfish. Besides that she hasn’t had a good tract record regarding the other guys she’s been with. Quill, run. Run and don’t look back!

It’s almost like they are married. He is attempting to complement her for being the “total package” and she is trying to pick it apart and draw negative connotations from it. He likes you more. Take it at face value.

Love the second panel – as Luann is asking Quill is she better looking than Tiff she has a hunk of food in her mouth! That captures the ironies of life perfectly!

Luann would look much better if she were a vegan instead of a pig scarfing up that greasy hamburger. Enough of this mish mash. Any other character on this strip is better than this tripe.

People, People, PEOPLE! She’s in HIGH SCHOOL fer cryin’ out loud. Quit expecting her to act/feel/respond with a maturity that most Grown & Married Adults have to struggle with.

She’s come a fair piece, but there’s still a good way to go. It just might be that Quill would be willing to accompany her for some of it.

is funny the mind of Luann…………. expects the same issues from Quill that she had with Aaron……………… there is a huge difference……….. Quill actually constantly converses with Luann, while except for far in between times, Aaron didn’t………… Quill eats constantly with Luann, while Aaron sat with Luann ONLY when Luann with great effort got his attention(and even than, many times Tiff either told him “come to me” or batted her eyelashes, and Aaron went to Tiff, and he did same thing with his deaf girlfriend)………….. Aaron was the same as Gunther, he changes “interest” (Aaron = Luann, Tiff, Lian? from Hawaii, deaf girl, Diane; Gunther = Luann, Tiff, Bernice, Rosa)…….. Quill main and almost exclusive interest is Luann

Years from now Tiffany will be old and her beauty fading and Luann will still be pretty inside and out.

Quill appears to be fun, intelligent, mature, and insightful— just like Berniece. No wonder Luann likes them both. Wonder if Berniece and Quill would like each other?

“Luann” is fast becoming “Cathy” with this neurosis angle. Suggest the writer either gets to what, if anything, happened over the break or bail this storyline.

Luann is, after all, just a teenager. A very young, insecure, teenager. She has yet to learn to accept a compliment and enjoy it. Maturity is slow to come to some of us.It amazes me how this comic strip generates so many comments……..are we all reliving our teen years through the characters?

Luann come on, you are Smokin’ Hot. You’ve got it goin’ on, Hair, Bustline, Hips.You are going to rival Toni in a year or so. You need to know it, and stop obsessing on Tiff. She’s peaked and will be living in a trailer by the river.

Two things: Every person wants to be told by their significant other that they are the MOST beautiful/handsome person in the world TO THAT person. Second, while beauty is only skin deep, ugly is to the bone.

Luann asks if she’s better looking than Tiffany. Quill shouldn’t have dodged with “You have more beauty”; I think Luann is better looking than Tiffany. And a personal take on beauty and compliments: My wife of 40 years died a year ago. I never thought of her as a beauty. Intelligent, loving, creative, the love of my life, yes, but not a beauty. She sometimes fished for a compliment. I sometimes answered like Golde in Fiddler on the Roof — “but you’re my WIFE.” Now I wish I’d been free with compliments. And the helluvit is, in pictures taken a couple of years ago, I came to think she was beautiful — lines, occasional baldness and all.

Come on, Luann…what Quill is saying is that Tiffany is a pain in the neck but you’re pleasant to be around…except maybe when you go all ugly-jealous like this.

Don’t look in the mirror next time you have doubts about your appearance. Look in Quill’s eyes. You’ll see all you need right there. Trust me.

to me, a cute girl with an awesome personality is way hotter than the cover girl who’s a bee-yotch…but that’s just me…

My bottom line: Luann is dull and unattractive, but her friends make the strip interesting. At least Tiffany and Crystal and Toni make an effort to look attractive.

Luann is neither dull nor unattractive. The cartoonist/writer has masterfully created an Average American Teen girl who has the same anxieties as every other real teenager. All the peripheral characters are drawn as foils to soothe and/or aggravate. This strip is more nearly like real life than any other contemporary comic of its genre.

Luann needs to stop being so insecure and Quill needs to grow a set of balls and make a real move.

Ok this has to stop, I really despise Luann. If I were Quill I would go out with Tiffany just to give Luann what she expects.

OK I know I’m a guy and a perve but the 3rd panel is a little suggestive with her and the sandwich. Come on. Move on witrh this story line.

She should just shut up and go with it…yikes some woman!

Luann could look just as “beautiful” as Tiff. All she has to do is buy the cosmetics. She has a lot of potential.

This story line is getting very boring. Either get together or break up sheeeeesh.

Why would the maturity level of the strip change how Greg writes Tiffany? He could imply her as a person with those problems if he wanted to, I think he just prefers to have her be the type of antagonist in shows who is constantly smug and self-assured when they aren’t as great as they think they are like Nellie Oleson was. Though, I think she’s mostly just around to make Luann look less selfish and obnoxious in comparison.

That’s not the way to accept a compliment, Luann.
