one week….so a year in luann time?

Shouldn’t panel 3 be the first one? Why does Gunther need lessons when he already took out Leslie?.Good kick, Gunther! And WHAT HAPPENED to your backpack?

Oh, maybe the first 2 panels are what he’s thinking about when he sees the window ad.

I don’t get it.

The intro to this strip on Krav Maga was in BOOK form. He carried the book around, reading illustrations on self defense….Now he spots a CLASS offered on Krav Maga. Tomorrow we will see him sign up for the class.

I am getting very tired of this story line

I will say that we find Leslie being a student in that place……………poor Gunthie

Looks like artist hasn’t decided yet where to go with Gunther& Rosa….

No good can come of this (no offense to the art and artists of Krav Maga)…

If the panels were in any other sequence, we could only think that they had actually happened. Panels 1 and 2 are before and after scenarios he is evaluating while he contemplates his options. Reckon we are about to see Gunther mature in the way that Brad stopped being a dork. Nerds that can do martial arts are typically very high achievers, in my experiences. Heck, he may even learn how to dance!Leslie won’t be in the class. Bullies tend to not do martial arts, too much discipline and obeisance required.

Hey: I told him to go to School for Krav Maca and drop the book.

Panel 1 is certainly not reality. It would take a mussleman grande to straight arm lift over 100 lbs. Definitly not within Leslie’s ability.

I’m thinking this will be the side entrance to the tattoo/piracy studio from Gil Thorpe.

I agree with the view that panels 1 and 2 represent Gunther’s thinking as he contemplates joining the krav maga dojo. And while his dream is overly optimistic, it wouldn’t hurt for him to begin some serious self-defense training!

Leslie as the teacher would be too much or a ripoff of The Karate Kid, unless Leslie kids Gunth that he walked into a remake of The Karate Kid..Only this time the “wax-on, wax-off” refers to Leslie’s hair.

Gunther is so tiny compared to Leslie, I’m pretty sure he would never be able to do that to him. Gunth, just bring some weights and drop them on his feet, then you can easily punch him. until he gets up and your history……..

I don’t want to see Gunth trying to learn how to beat Leslie, I want to see Leslie and Gunth fight, that could easily be a week thing.

I had hoped that this storyline would have been about Gunther & Rosa’s relationship leading to something more physical between them, not some bully.

Turn down those pants?!? Where else are you going to see green socks???

I love this story line!

…yes, very tired of this. But if as some say, greg doesn’t read these comments, you are all at his mercy and whims. Maybe he thinks this is funny.

Last one. Happens to me all the time.

You need to switch to Sanka.

It would have helped if the first to panels had a wavy outline, if thought or imagination is what is meant.Rosa can take care of Leslie.

Can you get Delirium Tremens from a lack of coffee? Is that what’s happening when you SHOUT, Mordock?

Maybe the unrealistic background colors in panels 1& 2 were the clues. And both actions are exaggerated.

Just guessing… Gunther will take classes to learn to beat up Leslie, and instead will end up developing the self-confidence to walk away… with Rosa on his arm.

Most logical sequence would be: Panel 1, Panel 3, Panel 2.

One week later, and gunther is still wearing those green socks.

The first two panels are what Gunther is thinking when he walks past the dojo— he’s looking for a quick fix. On the other hand, it might be interesting to see what a chick magnet Gunther becomes after he becomes a serene, confident black belt.

And then he woke up.

Whatever happens I don’t want to see Gunther get hurt. Learning how to defend himself is a good thing. Mordock…I should think you are drinking too much coffee if you are staying up so late and not getting enough sleep.

It is not that confusing. Greg Evans is switching back between the two characters involved here, Gunther and Rosa, in terms of how they develop their relationship and aspects of their personal character. Rosa is no pushover and I bet she can handle herself, but she likes this nerd guy anyway. Gunther is a nerd guy, who is shy around objects of desire, and runs away (witness his relationship with Luann), but who dreams of being able to handle the lecherous bully. How it plays out remains to be seen, but meanwhile its a lot a fun. Second after Tony and Brad.

I think it would be good for Gunther. Give him some confidence.

First, I commend Gunth on having socks that match his shirt.Second, I hope he and Rosa make a plan, as he is more likely to win a battle of the mind than a battle of the muscles.

I’d rather see Rosa attack and pin Gunther. That would make his navel tingle.

oh Gunther, if only it were so simple and easy.

Panel reminds me of a Marmaduke strip; panel 1 shows small dog barking @ M’duke—underscore said, “not the size of the dog in the fight….”.panel 2 shows leash of small dog hanging out of M’dukes mouth—underscore said, “well, sometimes it IS the size of the dog in the fight.” This was many times proved wrong by Royce Gracie.Go Gunther!

He looks a lot like Archie in the 2nd panel. And the other punk looks like a Jughead/Reggie combo.

Leslie will soon have a taste of Gunther’s Nerd Fu.

He’s got good taste in martial arts.

Krav Maga iisn’t a defensive art, it’s offensive. Its intent is to injury the opponent quickly. Gunth might get some self confidence from its study. He might also become a bit of a bully if he doesn’t handle the teaching well.

It would have been funny if was passing by a store that had a sale on backpacks…

Learning to ‘defend yourself’ can be a blind alley. Either avoid a fight altogether, or realize that you may not, in these times, merely fight to disable an attacker. You may have to do more…and Krav Maga is some serious fighting tech.

A beginner using an open hand like that is a great way for him to get his fingers broken. Haha, one week later… how about 5 years later?
