Poor Ox!!! He’s such a sweetheart! I can’t wait for Eiffel to get what she has coming to her.

Talk to the wall, TJ — I doubt she knows those words, nevermind the concepts!
flowerladytoo over 12 years ago
I really, REALLY want her to get what is coming to her….wouldn’t it be wonderful if corporate fired AE and gave her position to TJ, then SHE would have to wait on customers and he can make her life miserable. Well…we can hope.

Wouldn’t it be interesting if Ox’s wealthy dad was the main stockholder of Weenieworld?

Whats with the “diner waitress” attitude she got on?

I suspect that the only thing Ann actually knows to do with her body is to trade it for rungs upward on the corporate ladder. In the years she’s been in this strip, she hasn’t ever given any indication that she actually enjoys the physical hottie that she is.
mojitobaby over 12 years ago
The money – and the rush she gets from victimizing everyone in her sphere. So much for her “responding” to Ox’s niceness. Sociopaths run true to form.

Maybe OX is from that reality show where the boss of the corporation is a ‘secret customer’? Efficiency? Evaluation? Workforce adjustment? Not as dumb as he appears heh?

Wouldn’t it be interesting, if Oxford parents were the owner’s of this hotdog chain.
YankeeFan56 over 12 years ago
Ox said he always ate at Burgerbox, so it’s not likely his folks own WW. And I don’t think TJ is in on this, because I don’t know where he’d know Ox from. The only things we know for sure- Ox hates bullies (see 3/5/12), and Ann is one. It seems that we’re laying the groundwork for an eventual clash between him and AE at some point in the future, though the thing is, Ox is a high-schooler and Ann is a grown-up. I think the whole WW storyline is as interesting as Brad/Toni, with the budding storyline of Crystal/Knute close behind.

If Oxford’s parents did own Weenie World, Ox would not have taken so long to start eating there.

This comic is so much better when they shift the focus away from luann
SideshowStarlet over 12 years ago
The suggestion that Ann treat Ox with respect and courtesy is probably the most practical idea TJ ever came up with. If you think TJ had a “good plan,” Ann, why don’t you actually follow the first bit of useful advice TJ ever gave you instead of laying on the phony sweetness?

Ahhhhhhh, My Dear Ann Eiffel.
You are about LEARN a Very Valuable Lesson:
The ONLY Person that can take ADVANTAGE of People AND Get away with it around here, is that Grinning Jackass You’re talking to.
But DON’T take My word for it. Here’s the number of a young lady named Tiffany.
Gotta Run.
I SEE that there’s a Lynch Mob forming outside……,
SideshowStarlet over 12 years ago
I don’t think we’ll ever meet the true owner of WeenieWorld. For a while, I thought it would be TJ, but that never panned out. I doubt that it’s either of Ox’s parents.
…
Still, you know what would be cool? What if Ann Eifel was secretly the owner of WeenieWorld? She’s just using the whole “management” gig to stalk gullible prey, which she is having trouble finding at the corporate office. She failed with Brad and didn’t even come close to tempting TJ. She’s not really after a corporate bonus with Ox; she’s going for a gullible sugar-daddy.
…
TJ needs to tutor Ox in how women like Ann operate. In return for TJ’s help, Ox can continue to purchase massive amounts of food at TJ’s register.

Is TJ the only one who can see through Ann Eiffel? Can you image if she were the principal of Pitts High School?
Ottodesu over 12 years ago
@Sheriff Mordecai (yesterday)
Good point re Ox being the sort of character that would beautifully and naturally have to go with the flow. That’s why he reacts so powerfully against bullies, who are nothing but cowards who think it is fun to disrupt the flow of decent people with odious behaviour. .It is obvious that Ann is being set up by Greg to show us what he thinks of bullies. Leslie was a physical bully who threatened Gunther with punches. Ann is a psychopath (most are …) who threatens with disfavour and unemployment. Not to mention … sarcasm … ….Ann is every bit as nasty, though prettier, than Leslie, and that is the emphasis of the point that Greg is trying to make. Bullies come in all sizes and shapes, they just want to ensure that you don’t go with the flow.
Harman Toshiba over 12 years ago
One really has to admire the way Evans builds tension into the story arc. The ONE thing we know about Ox is that he really, REALLY hates bullies. So bringing him into the world of Ann Eiffel sets up a great show-down.
Clearly, from reading the comments above, everyone wants to see a ‘Taming of the Shrew’ ending.

AE & TJ are made for each other, it would be interesting if it moves toward romance between them and away from the friction, maybe the age thing would be too big a bridge to cross!

Does it not bother anyone that Oxford is apparently getting most of his food from fast-food restaurants? What Ox has ordered so far must be at the very least 2500-3000 Calories – and now he wants dessert! I don’t think in itself eating at a fast-food restaurant occasionally (the key word here) is cause for concern, but Ox is definitely overboard.`Yes, I realize this is a comic strip and it’s all suppose to be exaggerated for humor. Unfortunately, there are too many real life people who consume way too much fast-foods, which long-term damages not only their bodies but also their bank accounts. (In case you haven’t noticed, fast-foods are not cheap.) Apparently Ox’s parents condone this; if true, they may justly be accused of child neglect, if not outright abuse.

This could get even more interesting. Too bad she’s such a cold, dead fish. Initiating high school boys really requires bigger-hearted people…

What!! TJ has moral standards? Since when? Never forget the rip-off of the firefighters.
Sheriff Mordecai Premium Member over 12 years ago
Greg’s doing a GREAT job of keeping Ann totally IN character, it’s just that now we see her core beliefs about humanity manifest themself in dialogue. She’s a cold-hearted user and I am being kind. Good old Clydefrog from days of yore would have been the only one who really liked her, probably a relfection of his sorry self. Love a good villain and we’ve got one.
JohhnyB over 12 years ago
TJ uses respect & courtesy with customers? I thought he baits and switches them with new cars – then lies and says its just been won in the next county over after they place (and pay for) their order.

You’re correct, she is not too stupid to know who pays for her rent, but don’t miss the point that she has contempt for her customers. Read what she is saying about Ox.

Here’s an arc – Ox seems enamored – so he asks Ann out. Quickly Ann says TJ is her boyfriend. The stage is set for TJ to have fun with that.

OK everyone we have met Ox before. He is a high school student, remember he helped rescue Gunther from getting beat up.
Also if he ate that kind of food in that amount every day he would get incredibly sick.

1) Place is about to be robbed. Robber grabs AE & points gun to her head. Ox smacks his hand & looks tough. Robber runs.
2) To all the people who gripe that this is just a comic so why are we discusing it, think:- It’s a fun diversion from other problems and concerns- Games allow us to exercise parts of our brain that otherwise are underused- “Luann” often has a serious side, confronting issues that perhaps some readers are struggling with.
Yeah, it’s just a comic. Viva la comics!

Ox is not only a big eater but an incredibly fast one. In panel 2 AE answers a comment by TJ made in panel 1, so the timing between the panels is 2 or 3 seconds. In that time Ox demolished at least 2 burgers, a hot dog and a serving of fries and walked up to order dessert. He must have downed the lot in one massive gulp!
RBLawyer over 12 years ago
Oxford’s dad/mom is/are wealthy, right? Maybe he owns Burger Barn and WW. Maybe Ox goes around and samples the fod and service for his dad/mom and repots back.

Hey, Mighty Mouse, I got this on an obscure forum:
“Annie” ?? “AnnIE”??? Tsk, tsk, Headjug. How condescending! One mustn’t talk about a businesswoman using such an unprofessional name. You must hate women in positions of authority."

Ann, Ann, Ann. You treat a customer with courtesy and respect by upselling them $154 worth of crappy food, then putting a kid’s plastic crown on their head to make them look ridiculous. Courtesy and respect, Ann.
