I don’t mind a lot of the strangeness of Dick Tracy, I even get a kick out of the weird names of his foes…but when it goes to places like these muerte vines, it’s just too much of a stretch- sort of like the old days of Diet Smith and the Moon people. Too far out!

So Vince Vinyl and Teevo were the last victims of the two Muerte plants. So if, as she says the plants won’t hurt her. When Teevo came into the room. She hid in the one that had eaten Vince and convinced Teevo to hide in the one that was the hungriest. Therefore, she has commited homicide in the first degree!

Agent Dietrich has the Mushroom Lady cuffed, but she’s giving her an opportunity to wax sentimental over her precious (albeit stolen) muerte vines—and give valuable information about the fates of the last two vine-victims….

“Psilocybin” Sally is at it again

Trippin’ that the plant did somebody in

“My babies” she says, referring to plants that kill

Is her name by any chance, Clora Phil?

Teevo, to me it certainly does seem

Got a little carried away when going green

Will we ever know the when, what and why

Those reasons he became such a rotten guy?

Was it genetics that determined his fate

Or did his environment fill him with hate?

Here is a guess you will hear from no-other

Teevo it seems, was Pandas big brother

Food for the plant, or food for the fish

Either way, you’re going to be the main dish

So cheers and beers for Mike and for Joe

These guys put on one heckofa show.

Thanks, Doc 1947G and Gweedo Murray.

I wonder if Blaze is going to burglarize Davey’s home and steal his computer. By logging in she can become the new Mr. (Ms.) Crime.

binrik, unless davey gave blaze his password, she aint getting into ANY of his computer files… jeez jim, tell us how you REALLY feel about the moon era? it must irritate you that mike has hinted at some sort of “space angle” which now has everyone talking about potentially a moon story. (and if i remember right, it should irritate matt hansel too). i kinda hope they travel to the moon again, if only to see whats up and maybe commemorate moon maid’s demise… i think it owuld be fun to see honeymoon’s reaction to meeting her lunar grandparents. and i’m ALSO hoping that diet smith comes in shortly to supply tracy’s police dept with brand new “state of the art, cutting edge computer technology” to replace what teevo infected. so far since i have been back in october of 2011, i’ve seen lee ebony, vitamin flintheart, cueball, the mole, pouch, lizz, sam, junior, patton, tess, joe (AWESOME!) tracy, sparkle, b.o., gertie, honeymoon, b.b. eyes, mumbles, and of course johnny (THE MAN) adonis.. ALL from the eras when i used to read the strip in the ny daily news (except b.b eyes, mole and pouch.. but i knew who they were back then too so they qualify)… and i have been treated to some AMAZING new characters too like abner kadaver, thunderchild, patty cure, jerry king, blaze rise, doubleup, mr kleen, and (to me) ,mushroom lady, littleface, putty puss, lt teevo, and the muerte vines. and ALL of this since OCTOBER! truly amazing job mike, joe, and everyone else involved!

    Timmy!

I can’t figger out why Locher created Teevo to start with. Obviously, he didn’t have a clue about Teevo’s demise (or for anything else, for that matter). But Mike/Joe did us all a favor with Teevo. And yes, I second what was posted earlier in the morning; Mushroom Lady needs to call the local arborist to treat the Muerte vine. It’s been throwing up all night.

I don’t feel sorry for Teevo. He’d been tipping off the criminals and the press as to the activities in the MCU, he shot Patton, then ran like the weasel he was. I’d say he was the just desserts for the vine….

I predict Blaze is actually an FBI agent undercover. Took the job after her sister was offed. Did not kill the Paula Deen lady type. She’s in protective custody!

To me, and this is just my opinion, the difference between the Moon Era and almost everything else in Dick Tracy is this:The stories in DT are very often exaggerated reality. They may seem over the top, but they could happen. The science, likewise, is believable – mobile communications, closed circuit t.v. etc. all came to pass, even if Chester Gould thought of the ideas before they were real. But, when he got into the Moon stories, it became science fiction. He went several huge steps outside of reality. And DT became a different comic strip all together – with a city cop flying missions in outer space, and alien beings zapping muggers with energy rays. It was entertaining, I guess, but it didn’t FEEL like Dick Tracy any more. Some folks loved it, others didn’t, but that was my least favorite era. I hope the present team stays true to the original idea – a strip grounded in reality, even if the villians do have weird names and characteristics, and even if the stories get pretty wild at times.

I feel the need to weigh in on the Moon Travel plot lines from the 1960’s. I agree that by today’s sensibilities, it is far-fetched but, a a kid in the ’60’s, I remember those strips fondly and consider them in step with what lots of us thought about Space Exploration. I beleive that colonization of the moon wasn’t as much a fantasy as it is today. Back then, I recall that we thought we could do just about anything we put our minds to.

Diet Smith’s space contrivances are not that far from the future that Arthur C. Clarke described in 2001. And could someone refresh my memory about the propulsion system in the Rocket from H.G. Wells’ novel, “First Men in the Moon?” I seem to recall them using some sort of Magnetic devices…..

Honeymoon’s cool, but with todays scientific knowledge, the script has always wisely focused on the “earth” half of her ancestry, because her mom wasn’t “Mars Maid”. She’s fun, though….kind of a modern day Nancy Drew at times. I’m sooooo glad kadaver’s smoke pellets indeed turned out to be an idiot move in this case, because back when he released them I was thinking “great, the gang already had wide open shots at Dick & Co. from hiding places inside, now kadaver has levelled the playing field”. I mean, if he hadn’t already tried to slice Tracy in half and blown up Mumbles pals, I would have suspected he did indeed do it to help the law, joining Littleface and the Mole as repented villains. That said, I LOVED having kadaver around during last Halloween season, hope he at least manages a cameo then this time around, too! Guess we find out where he is now in a day or two…..
