Not even on a cane yet, wreaking awe and terror in wake…yeah, I can’t go with the ‘new’ cast.

Zipper needs some character development if he’s going to move out of the periphery; I don’t dislike him, but he’s kind of a lightweight, narratively speaking. If not, he NEEDS Jeff to remain, because his main role lately has been Sancho Panza to Jeff’s Don Quixote.

As for Jeff, well… Jeff is Jeff. He’s annoying, but he’s been a useful resource for Trudeau.

I may get raked over the coals for this, but I’m hoping Leo reaches a breakthrough (if not a miracle recovery) on his aphasia. Yeah I know that it’s sensitive to real-life concerns and all, but it’s distracting at best (not to mention limiting, since this is a dialogue-driven strip), and at worst smacks of sentimental pandering.

I just remembered that Jeff is Alex’s uncle. That makes him stalking her on Facebook while she was on her honeymoon creepy, rather than just pathetic.

I’m okay with this premise – for a few days, but I hope it’s a joke. Haven’t there been a number of story arcs that did not include Mike Doonesbury?

I seriously doubt it will happen. I can’t see GT offing any of his characters. The last in recent memory was Mike’s mother, and she hadn’t been a major player. It would be like, “Pick which kid you don’t ever want to see again.”

Mike’s summer daydreams: passing the torch on to the next generation and retiring. If it seems a bit real, maybe it’s because Trudeau is thinking the same thing (although obviously neither Mike nor Gary will actually step down).
