Luann by Greg Evans and Karen Evans for September 06, 2012
Transcript:
Toni: "So Luann loves Quill" Brad: "And she's dying to know how he feels. So I told her to tell him she loves him" Toni: "What? No, Brad. That's NOT what she should do! It forces him to respond. Guys hate that!" Brad: "Wait. Are you saying you know more about guys than I do?" Toni: "Yes" Brad: "There's nothing left that guys know more about, is there?" Toni: "Not really"

When did women become the “self-appointed authority” on guys?
ammittai_is_available about 12 years ago
Don’t ask me, I’ve never understood guys
auramac about 12 years ago
Depends on the guy, And the girl. And the situation. Next question- why is it that Brad makes Toni feel on the spot, rather than the other way around? Hmmm.. .
oregontransplant about 12 years ago
has she told him “I love you Brad?” Hmmmmmmm!
legaleagle48 about 12 years ago
Yes, which is why he was totally flirting with Luann every chance he got. If he’s gay, than either he needs his eyes checked, or she’s got a problem with unwanted body hair.

Toni may be more nearly ready to take the Big Leap into marriage than we think. She’s already training Brad for his proper husbandly subservience….

Really? Toni knows guys? Says a lot about her and her relationship with Dirk. If she knew all about guys, she would have known Dirk for the abuser he was. Toni only THINKS she knows guys but actually she doesn’t. She doesn’t get Brad, either. Doesn’t get how he loves her and wants to marry her. She thinks she has to string him along and act coy to keep his interest. Brad, Toni has outgrown her usefulness and attraction. Dump her.

Guys – you shot me down for criticizing Toni’s attire in yesterday’s forum. I KNEW perfectly well Toni is a firefighter and that BOTH Toni and Brad are wearing their UNIFORMS. Duh right back at ya.I have a sister in law who is a firefighter. She attends benefits all the time. She doesn’t attend in her work uniform or “dress uniform” as some of you called it. She wears her normal clothes however she is required to wear her station pin to the benefit. Since the pin is large and quite masculine looking, she tends to wear feminine work-grade button-down shirt thick and strong enough to hold the pin, and wears either black jeans or billowy slacks with nice heels. Being a female firefighter doesn’t mean one has to carry oneself as masculine as Toni apparently is. She sometimes occupies male fellow firefighter to benefits and I’ve seen them dress in their own clothes with the same pin as well. My brother sometimes had to stay home with the kids. Those on DUTY do NOT attend the benefit and stay at their stations so those who said they have to be in uniforms to be ready for fires are being silly – they don’t wear their uniforms 24/7.I only can presume the benefit dress protocol varies from city to city. Here where I live, firefighters don’t wear work uniforms to benefits – just station pins.

Brad is learning early what my wife has spent 33years teaching me. I think it was Chris Rock who said he learned from his father that “he could right or he could be happy.” Brad, repeat after me…“Yes, Dear.”it’s all good.C.

This is one of those “girls think they know how guys work when really they are oblivious to how they think” situations. It’s like how some guys think they know women.

If a man says something in a forest, and there’s no women there to correct him, is he still wrong?

Frankly, I’m with Brad on this one. Open, honest, responsible communication is better than game-playing any day.

We’ve done this before. When Aaron Hill took luann for a “first/last” date, she told Aaron she loved him, but that he didn’t need to say anything to her. Why should luann bottle up how she feels. Regardless of “gender” attitudes, you should express how you feel.
sjsczurek about 12 years ago
No. And most likely he was not wrong in the first place.
yangeldf about 12 years ago
Ha, the truth is that each gender thinks it knows the other better.

…seriously? Well educated and intelligent men are scared off by a woman who says what she feels? Wow – I’m betting you are basing this observation on yourself, in which case, I don’t know about the well-educated, buty you can’t be very intelligent. (And no, you don’t have to be intelligent to be well-educated…)
pixel_pusher about 12 years ago
Huh. Intelligent and well-educated men are turned off by honesty and straightforwardness’ preferring instead a woman who spends all her time guessing how he feels and wringing her hands about it. Oh, waitasec, no, those are powertripping douchebags; intelligence and education do no exempt one from such a class.

Yes, it IS in Guam. You will know they are getting close when they hit the toll booth at the end of the bridge.
Dr Low about 12 years ago
After years and years of dealing with these things I have concluded that the biggest difference between men and women is that men don’t understand women no matter how hard they try and women don’t understand men because they don’t try.

@simpsonfan2Gay guys may not have to deal with women, but by and large they enjoy spending time with women. Maybe because fem guys feel more accepted and understood by women than men? Just guessing…As for Toni’s assertion, I hardly think that a female comic strip character whose lines are written by a male author can be taken seriously to speak for all females (excuse my eye roll).
BostonTerrier about 12 years ago
Hello Everyone – this strip is written by a GUY. It is a guy writing the words for Toni. So for all of those yabbering on about what women do/don’t do….Toni is only saying what a GUY thinks she would say.

This has been the best Brad/Toni storyline in quite sometime. I hope they never get back from the animal shelter!

“Lim x→ 0- X cube cos (2/x) = 0”-Of course, the limit as x goes to zero of x is zero but the cosine of a changing number approaching zero has no real limit even though it DOES oscillate between one and negative one. -Cubing that would still give a number never larger than positive one, never lower than negative one which we are multiplying by a smaller and smaller number as x approaches zero.-So even as it wiggles back and forth, it limits to zero.
Same thing with the final answer, x squared gets smaller quicker than simply x does so the limit would also drop to zero.-I know it’s an article of faith rather than proof, but I simply can’t believe women limit down to zero.
Takagi-san about 12 years ago
You know, just thinking back on the whole Brad & Toni thing, from start to now, and I have never for a moment truly believed her to actually be in love with him. Maybe it was the disjointed nature of the storyline (or the strip itself) but it feels like she went from “hmm maybe Dirk” to “I love Brad” a bit too quickly to be believable. Or, at least, with very little to substantiate it to the readers. Maybe if I could see all of the Toni/Brad/Dirk strips all in a sequence it would help. I’d be curious to hear opinions on this, agree or disagree (just back up your opinion in some manner, please).
