I was such a pariah in high school that even the D&D nerds would shun me.

My first year in college, there was no fraternity I felt comfortable with. I ended up joining ΓΔΙ (g.d.i.) which stood for [blasphemy] [blasphemy] Independent. They even had pins made up for it, and I still have mine. The following year I joined Intercollegiate Knights, a national service fraternity, and stayed with them until I graduated. We were a bunch of misfits, but misfits who enjoyed making a difference.

Donny, what you don’t know about the Temperaments and the New Testament would fill a very big book. They are as you describe only if reduced to a simplistic form well beyond what they are.

As to Luann? She has for many years wanted to be part of something, valued, needed. In the past year or so it seems that she is learning that she can be valued as she is and on her own merits. This is an important part of her emotional makeup, and a real step towards maturity.

I was the Protector. Technically, I was a goth, but I didn’t hang out with many of the other goths, as a lot of them were really catty.I hung out with the misfits and a few other groups. Theatre people, punks, the few kids brave enough to be openly gay, rivetheads, artists, and random people from random other groups. I tended to be the one who guarded them, protected them, stood up for them… I chased off the neo-nazi skinheads and stared them down when they tried to bully those kids. I’ve always been the type to have friends from many different groups though… I love introducing people to each other when they probably wouldn’t interact, otherwise. It’s great when they become friends, and everyone’s world gets a little bigger. :D

I was a BUG in high school too but we didn’t call it that, I was just the invisible one that no one paid any attention to. I can guarantee that 95% of my class has NO idea who I am. I went to a reunion about 7 years ago and found out that most folks didn’t even know I graduted with them. I have found out in life that you are better off being invisible and so I remain INVISIBLE.

Why does she have to be in ANY “group?” I wasn’t, when I was in HS, and I never noticed. I guess I was excluded, but who cared?

I got along with most everyone in high school … mainly because I didn’t try to fit into any group. I didn’t let anyone force me into one either.

It was fun to see this more recent Tiff/Lu strip right after the Vintage one when they were kids:) People change over time, but they remain the same people. Nice exchange.

Brdshtt – I was probing the system like a good little intelligence agent and I got my answers. Which, in part, indicates a lack of intelligence on behalf of some posters. Can’t take their little sideshow too seriously. It’s a tired game than ran its course on the old United Media site. Cheers.
