Luann by Greg Evans and Karen Evans for October 02, 2012
Transcript:
Toni: "Thinking abut you. We need to talk. What's THAT mean??" Luann: "Yeah. When? How? About what? Is this good news or bad?" Toni: "He's being very vague" Luann: "And why a letter? Why not a phone call? Is he distancing himself?" Toni: "Well, be ready for something wonderful - or painful" Luann: "Guys. They're either great or awful" Toni: "Usually they're both"

Toni – you are such a lousy sister-in-law apparent. Luann has learned nothing from you, benefited nothing from you. No wonder your relationship with Brad is going nowhere.
wiselad about 12 years ago
we have to remember that currently, Toni is scared of committing all the way…………. we shall see soon if I am right, and we will find that Quill is going to be with his Uncle in Los Angeles county?
Chuck374 about 12 years ago
Be ready for something painful? The guy she fell in love with moved to the other side of the planet.
Chuck374 about 12 years ago
Be ready for something wonderful or painful? Well, that covers everything, Toni. Good advice.
Chuck374 about 12 years ago
He said he has been thinking about Luann. You don’t think about a person your not with unless you miss them and would rather be with them. He either has to move on or move back. It sounds as if he is ready to do the latter.
andersox about 12 years ago
Translation: I’ve already moved on.

go fly your own kite dearie…I can recommend serveral sites,.,.,
Linda Solomon about 12 years ago
I think it is a letter written on the fly from Quill to sorta warn Luann that he is going to be moving back and wants to take things to a next level…that he has feelings for her….hope so anyhow,,,,
Arbitrary about 12 years ago
Oh like they have room to talk. He’s a guy Luann, he means “We need to talk”, nothing more. I say “We need to talk” because I want to talk to someone.
rusty gate about 12 years ago
Ah poor matey. I fear lightning hit a koolabob tree as he sat beside the billabong and fell over on top his noggin. He’ll develop amnesia and run off into the wilderness to chase kangaroos and koalas.
If someone moves back, I’m still guessing it’s Aaron Hill.
Sisyphos about 12 years ago
Quill is a pretty straight-forward guy, so I don’t think he has any hidden agenda. He still thinks of Luann. He wants to talk to Luann. Even if he’s moved on to another, Aussie, girl friend, he’s going to be straight with Luann, and that’s good.

Interesting how Toni’s hair somehow made it out of (below) the first panel…

Well, I Guess “Getting over Mr. Oz and MOVING On with Her Life” is OUT of the Question for THIS Lass.
Besides, I thought the WHOLE reason for NOT having a relationship with the ‘Manikin’ was to AVOID the Very FOOLISHNESS You are going through NOW.
And Toni? YOU are NOT Helping…..,
Cathy38c about 12 years ago
Quill is getting married! So Luann is getting the “Dear Jane” letter.

Where’s the storyline about Ox and Tiffany?
Mstreselena about 12 years ago
Anyone else pick up on the fact that she’s treating Toni more like a sister than just Brad’s girlfriend?
Bucinka about 12 years ago
Greg needs to get with the 21st century. Why not a phone call? Because a) Melbourne is 13 hours ahead, and Sydney 14 hours ahead of California, where I think we all deduced Luannville is, and a) teenagers don’t make phone calls these days, they text. Skype and email are also possibilities. Never mind the cost of a phone call…
“Why not a phone call?” is a comment I would expect from Frank, not Luann.
The Great One about 12 years ago
I know water separates them, but come on, we have Email and chats along with Skype that boost free Skype to Skype calls.
axsiter about 12 years ago
They will not be a pair anytime soon. You all know that should they hook up, the strip will not have anything to look forward to.
legaleagle48 about 12 years ago
Actually, no, it wouldn’t — and as a gay man, i find it quite insulting to suggest that the reason that Quill was able to resist Tiffany is that he’s OBVIOUSLY gay, which no, Greg has never even suggested that Quill is. Tiffany just wasn’t his type, is that so hard to comprehend?
imbaldeagle about 12 years ago
Ya gotta wonder. If Greg Evans is working with his daughter to take over the strip, or at least be a major contributor to it, isn’t she having input into the plot and details development? You’d think that soon we can stop seeing comments: “Oh, it’s a 60+ year old man putting words into a teenage girls mouth – and it’s not reality in the 21st century”. We should be seeing Luann & friends echoing more contemporary language & concepts; dont’cha think?

Imbaldeagle: His daughter is out of college now. His grandson might be of help, although how much a male can get into the female mind is questionable.

Perhaps a future letter from will include the engagement announcement he forgot to include in his “we need to talk” letter.
Jay5794 Premium Member about 12 years ago
Please add Quill after “letter from”. Sorry.

In my experience, girls are also great….At being NUTS!
krbuza about 12 years ago
“Awful Great” or “great” and “awful”? Or, is the use of “awful” as a positive modifier to limited to a certain geographic region?
BlitzMcD about 12 years ago
It’s called a distance factor because it is almost always a factor. Time to put up the periscope again.
imbaldeagle about 12 years ago
My point is that we’re getting a lot of comments that Greg’s strip is not real because his “old-fogy” remarks are not typical of today’s teens. So perhaps that’ll go away (to some degree) when his daughter starts contributing to the strip. One can hope…
vldazzle about 12 years ago
My lover and I are miles apart most of the time, but at least we can Skype often. Grandma Evie skypes with her grandkids when away and I Skype with all family members who are willing to (inluding my son-i-L just yesterday). Some still use phones but face to face is better always (and free) ;-D
Gokie5 about 12 years ago
Unless Greg’s daughter may be having big-time influence, per what some recent commenters imply.

how do chicks have eyebrows on top of the hair on their heads? ha ha ha.
samfran6-0 about 12 years ago
Even if Toni’s advice might not be the best, it is still good Luann has a ’sister ’ to talk things over with.

usually I prefer my tripe well roasted over an open fire, but there’s so much of it here today, I may have to make jerky to preserve it.
tripas es muy malo…ok in english – that stuff bites the big one!

again I pledge internally to never comment on Luann again…heavy sigh….
Tyjigga about 12 years ago
Wow. Luann you sent him a letter, and he responded in kind. What’s so strange about that?

Is"Yank" a phrase of endearment?
Ray52 about 12 years ago
Oh – he hadn’t received her love letter when he mailed his :) It appears that he misses her too and would rather share his feelings verbally than write.
imbaldeagle about 12 years ago
Don’t know where you’re seeing my problem with gayness – I wasn’t aware that my comments showed that – maybe you’ve got the wrong poster in mind. Or maybe you’re reading some “hidden message” into my post – like I’m supposed to find some hidden message in Greg Evans’ strips. I don’t suppose that discerning people can just enjoy the strips without trying to find some mean spiritedness in them.
