Being from Ohio (Just like Mr. Crankshaft and his creator) I often wonder what happened to the glaciers that once covered 2/3 of the state thousands of years ago. Climate change maybe?
We can stop climate damage by blocking traffic and carrying signs that say, “just stop oil.” Just like Nancy Reagan stopped teen age drug abuse with “just say no…”
Ed’s mangled metaphor aside, they can always stop and by batteries almost anywhere, probably pay “somewhat” more than what they would’ve paid at “Sprawlmart,” but..
Sorry, Jff, but Ed has NOT updated his metaphors. He is speaking quite literally about water going over the bridge, in particular, the Tinkers Creek Aqueduct on the Ohio & Erie Canal near Akron. He saw this in his youth and the memory of water going over the bridge has stuck with him ever since.

Yes, the climate is always changing. That’s been going on for billions of years.

“…climate damage.”
Just how old is that climate dam?
“…water over the bridge.”
I was tempted to respond with “dam it all”, but then it would be water over the dam.
