CSRoberto – In respect of the figurative question you asked a few days ago, it appears that the answer is “no”. He really does have to do this over and over and over again. Forever.
Every strip this year without Crankshaft is just “Tom Avatar praises a Tom Avatar who praises a different Tom Avatar, while 1 or more Tom Avatars watch approvingly at a book signing.” This is totally normal for a 50+ year comic! Ever read “Blondie Stares at Mirror Talking to Blondie in the Asylum”? Funny stuff! In fact, dare I say…LOL?
Has it ever been canonically established how old Homunculus Jff is? He looks no more than about ten to me, probably younger. Which says a lot about who actually read Starsuck Jones back in the day.
And now I understand why Jff’s mom stuck a kitchen knife through that copy of “Starsuck Jones.” It’s all because of this letter. Y’see, there’s no way she’d let him waste a stamp sending a letter to a comical book, so he had to steam the stamp off an envelope in the outgoing mail. Said envelope happened to contain the check paying this month’s gas bill. Four days later, when the envelope returned marked “insufficient postage,” the gas had already been turned off and the family had endured a couple frigid Ahia winter nights.
Mom didn’t figure out why she had sent the gas payment without a stamp… until a few months later, when Jff excitedly shoved the comic in front of her and pointed to his letter. At which point, all became clear to Mom, and she got a little stabby-stabby for a minute.
I wrote to a comic book in the 60s and the letter was surprisingly printed only a couple months later. They had no compunction about changing what you said to what they wanted you to say.
In t he 1990’s I won a contest at DC COMIC for the best idea on how to re-introduce Red Kryptonite into the SUPERMAN books. The prize was a page of original art of my choosing.
I said send ANYTHING by Curt Swan, who was still around and doing occasional fill in work. I got Lana Lang’s wedding to Pete Ross.
I don’t want to know how much it’s worth because I’ll never sell it
Poor Mindy. Harrison Butkered out of the story arc again. In Batty’s world icky goyls don’t like komix. Relegated to baking cookies with Pm again.
On the other hand, she probably had her fill of Flash and Phil while she worked at Atomik Komix. She doesn’t miss the bad dad jokes, or the scent of Ben Gay and Brylcreem.

I won’t ask what Mental Midget is smelling while he stands behind Jff.

This strip isn’t funny. This strip is a manifestation of mental illness.
I’m not joking. This is the point where Tom’s intervention should occur. This is the Worm Ouroborus, but it’s not its tail that it’s swallowing.

Why can’t Jff just say his letter is printed? He needs to state the opposite?

Since when are letters to the editor reprinted in omnibus editions?

Jff is obviously Mike Friedrich. Yes, I’m the world’s greatest comic nerd for knowing that.

Sadly, that letter to the editor has been the highlight of Jff’s life.
Do komix bullpens have copies of their omnibuses on hand? Asking for a friend.

Maybe it’s just me, but doesn’t Flash’s offer to let Jff sign his copy seem like a gesture someone would do to make a child feel special?
Hi, there little guy, Would you like to sign my copy? Would you like a “Li’l Comics Artist” badge too?
