I once rented a car and upon entering the car was nearly knocked out by the awful “new car” smell. It was a horrid chemical smell. I had to change cars because it was so bad.

Is he expressing his opinion of each (thumbs up or thumbs down)?

Or is he trying to hitch a ride?

Or is he just horsing (Horacing) around?

That "new car smell’ is a result of the off-gassing of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) used in car production. VOCs can include acetaldehyde, benzene, formaldehyde, styrene, and a number of other chemicals that sound like ingredients in a pack of cigarettes, not something you want parked in your garage.

Chinese consumers have become increasingly concerned about air quality. car shoppers in China don’t like any smell in a vehicle, even if the scent is generally pleasing, like leather seats. For Chinese consumers, the best new-car smell is no smell.

I like the new-car smell, but I doubt I’ll be breathing it any time soon :^)…

I can’t stand New Car Smell. When I had finally saved enough to get a new car, one week after, I went to a fast food place, ate in the car and then left all the packaging in the car for a night and day, didn’t get rid of all of the smell but did a pretty good job. Can’t beat french fry grease!

Leather seats need to be soaked overnight, before cooking. Who doesn’t know that.
