Is Oswald, or Broadway the elder brother? I believe Broadway is older by at least a decade, isn’t he?

Well, I guess BB survived and now his brother will be in the mix. I hope we get to see Belle again … in living color. I’m glad the cutie made it. Even old men still like the cute gals. You gotta admit that she has a nice hair cut! As an artist myself it’s hard to draw pretty people, and with nice hair.

Yesterday people were discussing the Dick Tracy cartoons in the 1970’s show, “Archie’s T.V. Funnies.” As JB2K said, these cartoons were “a lot closer to the comic strip (and had a supporting cast of Chief Patton, Tess, Sam, B.O. Plenty/Gravel Gertie, and…Moon Maid!).”I found one of the cartoons with Mumbles, Sam, Pat, Tess, Junior, and Moon Maid and uploaded it to Youtube. You can watch it at the link below. Dig Moon Maid’s crazy alien voice!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXxVpWtywE0&feature=youtu.be

Great way to end the tale. I wonder if Sunday will bring a new story or a return to the Moon Maid mystery.

Last panel sounds like beginning of a new story, but maybe it will be down the way a little.

Prediction: Sunday’s strip will have either a quick look at Stephanie and David hanging up their costumes or a quick reference to the Moon Maid subplot; followed by the setup for the next crook to hit town.

For several months now Joe Staton’s use of shadow in his presentations continue to LIFT not only the appeal but a greater enjoyment of his presentations. If anything, he’s even ‘out-doing’ Gould in this area !

He often manages to get the essence of the character depicted exactly right. Today’s panel 3 gives a classic example ! He captures it precisely as my mind ’ remebers ’ that character from years ago. It’s there in the curve of the stomach and a delightful TILT of the Umbrella - * with precise exactitude !

“They really didn’t show the power Moon Maid has in it. So passive.”^^Yeah, it was strange that Moon Maid didn’t use her powers to escape Mumbles. Though I suppose the cartoon would have ended pretty quick if she had. Thanks for the link, Willy007.

I guess this is the end of the “costume caper.” Which is too bad because I enjoyed all the Batman references. Seeing the Penguin today was the topper. Booyah!

    You’re replying to Tommygunner’s comment:

Thanks for linking us to that Moon Maid cartoon. I remember seeing those when I was young. The story is hopelessly silly, but that’s why it’s so much fun to watch. Dick to Junior and MM (paraphrasing) “I can’t spy out Mumbles’ hideout cuz they’ll spot me right away, but they’ll never recognize Moon Maid in her horns and costume, oh and here wear these X-ray glasses, too.” ROFL!^^Filmation was considered the worst Hollywood cartoon studio in the business, their cartoons were cut and paste (same animations, new backgrounds), poor animation & quality control, such as Mumbles going from black to blonde in this short story, and totally moronic story telling (like robbing a ship full of gold dust… which actually consists of a handful of bags which just HAPPEN to be leaning against the very wall of the ship they decided to break through)< I remember one Archie cartoon where the “gang” was hunting for “delicious tsee tsee flies” << One of the other Malaria carriers, beside mosquitos, they might find YOU tasty, but, not the other way round.

I don’t think Mike and Joe asked DC’s permission, or needed to. Copyright laws (and the First Amendment) allow for parodies. Besides, the “real” names and images were never used.

Interesting Trivia about the DICK TRACY segments on ARCHIES TV FUNNIES – John Erwin (Who was also the voice of Reggie!) was later the voice of HE MAN! Also, he voiced The Long Ranger on a “guest appearance” on Filmation’s Annimated “The Brady Kids”!

Look, as I suggested yesterday, don’t you think Mike and Joe ran this past Trib’s legal department before they commited the storyline?

It’s an homage that is clearly rooted in fair use, and to even go further – a parody. Bates’ Brother is clearly a “parody” of another well-known character. End of Story.

BTW: If they’re brothers, then his last name should be Pennyworth, not Bates.
