He’s gonna wish his car didn’t make that bridge jump. Maybe he’ll be grateful when Tracy shows up. Nah.

Now he decides to clear out. Too late! Plus… he doesn’t know it but Lizz and Tracy are already on the way (once they blow up the still, but that only takes a few minutes).

Anyway, he’s going to have to do something with the body that has his poison running through its veins. Yup, Jim in CT, you’re right, no breaks for Selfy.

Just as well, Vic. If it weren’t for sudden death without “overtime” you would just be slowly losing your health and all the medical work you’d be getting as they removed damaged organs one by one.

In the old days, I’d link to the strip where Silver Nitrate said, “I’d never poison you, it would make my hyena sick!”

And, when Lena dies from eating the poisoned Vic (if it comes to that), Selfy gets charged with animal abuse!

At long last, Vic is no longer thirsty.

Another dead body, Selfy’s fingerprints all over the flask…Looks like it is time for Selfy to panic. This box Selfy finds himself in seems very Gouldian. In many cases, it was the villain’s panicking that eventually did him in.

As Ray Toler notes, Selfy just put his prints all over the flask. He’ll end up paying for the murder he didn’t commit, perhaps.

I believe this is the first time Joe and Mike have been allowed to depict a full corpse. Normally we see just a hand or a foot with the remainder of the body off-panel.

Gould had no qualms about showing bodies in damaged condition or in various stages of decay. Of course he was given more leeway in those days regarding what he could depict.

Oh boy, this was an interesting twist! Unless Selfy used a poison that’s untraceable, well…

I’d love to see this villain in jail, getting his photo taken! :)

Yet it is Monkey feed and monkey chow that keeps showing up in drawings. His fate must have something to do with monkeys.

Vic deserves a Darwin Award nomination for this.

Ah Vic, ya big dummy. Good thing Selfie was ready to run anyway. It’s funny, I like Selfie much better working in the zoo. Seems like a nice enough guy. Hard working, conscientious, caring. Too bad he’s a selfish barstool all other times.

How did the late Vic the Lush get his cold dead hands on Selfy’s poison flask? Who knew Selfy kept his poison in a neat-o metallic hip-flask of the kind some drinkers still use to keep a dose or two of spirits handy?

Selfy was just a wee too late in his decision to move ’em on out. Now, Dick and Lizz will soon have him fenced in….

See, this is why you’ve always got to properly label your poison flasks, preferably with a skull and crossbones in keeping with cartoon tradition.
