I held off commenting on Tracy’s miraculous escape from the three point blank shots from Bones. I wanted to give team Tracy the chance to explain what happened. As Bones said; “At this range anything works”! Tracy should have been killed or at least severely injured.Looks like a logical explanation isn’t coming. Yet another example of them insulting our intelligence.
These crater sized plot holes are very embarrassing for them.
What the…?!!! Mike is one sadistic SOB. So…we have to wait an entire week to find out if Blackjack survived or not. Also, Lizz is still undercover with the Apparatus. Is that gonna ever get resolved?!
But, on a positive note, I just found out something amazing about Joe Staton. I’m sure you all knew this already but before his work on Tracy, Joe was a big-time comic book artist. Among his many highlights, he was the co-creator of the Huntress, both the Helena Wayne version in 1977 and the Helena Bertinelli version in 1989. She’s one of my favorite Batman characters, so thanks Joe.
I’ve been meaning to take a week off. I may not post here again till this is over. I read it just a few months ago and I didn’t like the ending. Oh reservoir! ;-)
Joe Stanton is listed as one of the authors of this mystery. Hmm…if this was the recording business, I’d say the episode about to run was “already in the can”. Opportunity presented itself and so it is going to run.
I would say the butler did it but that has become such a cliche. Krispies…I hope his first name wasn’t Rice. Heaven help us all if three of the characters in panel four aren’t named “Snap, Crackle and Pop”.
Normally I’d say sarcastically Minit Mystery….. One Week Break. However, this is a rerun so it’s someone else taking the one week break. Hope everything is ok, and our artists aren’t being held captive in some collectors vault……
While I did not expect to see confirmation of Blackjack’s demise, this MM rerun is a disappointment. I hope Team Tracy are all in good health. I suspect Lizz’s cover was blown, as the two thugs would share events with the boss. Yesterday’s strip was a clear conclusion, imo. The three panels were vivid and a bit bolder than usual with the violent aftermath of the exploding Wrist Wizard. Bones tumbling to his death. Tracy and an officer with their faces in shadow. The bird in flight as crime scene lights illuminate the corpse. A satisfying short story that grew out of the more intricate Time Drone tale. A day or two at the MCU should clear up any tangles. Good stuff.
Ah, my kind of story already. I have a particular love of old, largely low budget ‘assembled suspects in the mansion’ murder flicks. Last I checked my collection, I have about 90.
Shelley Pleger tells me, “… back to the regular scheduled program on Dick Tracy come next week with a sort of epilogue. Like the old days when you had to wait a week to see the next part of the serial.”
—Except it isn’t really “completely different,” being a rerun of a former Minut Mystery.
Why? I have no idea. So far (nearing 8:00 PM Central Time), on that social networking site which shall not be named, the pages of Joe Staton, Mike Curtis, and The Dick Tracy Fan Club have no posts alluding to this abrupt interlude. At least Shelley has reassured us viaNeil that there will be a sort of epilogue (or coda) to the Mr. Bones sub-arc (I still regard the Apparatus story as the main plot)….
Hope this interruption isn’t due to any serious problems on the part of the creative team, & I wish them all well. Memo to Shelley: This is a comic strip, not a movie serial.

An abrupt switch to a Minit Mystery. That will please the folks unhappy with recent plots.

Good morning™, deja viewers!
Joe Staton was just saying in a recent interview that they had never missed a deadline, though they came close a few times.
This is a rerun from November 2017. It’s only 8 days, so I think we’ll be back to the conclusion of the previous story a week from tomorrow.

Awww… I was hoping for some explanation of what happened to Blackjack and more of Lizz’s undercover assignment but I guess we will have to wait.

And Tracy’s wearing his cheap old chapeau with no faux bow at all. Not very stylish.

I cannot help but be reminded of a boyhood friend whose first name was . . Rice.

I tend to agree with “avenger09”, that said, I increasingly agree with Shelley’s artwork. Nicely and well done!

A rerun? Something has happened, hasn’t it? Did someone, or someone’s fall behind due to the switchover, per perhaps COVID?

Wow, Tracy isn’t much of a detective if he failed to notice a DEAD BODY that everyone is surrounding and facing.

Totally devoid of creativity when one has to fall back on a 4 year old "Mystery> Shameful

Krispies had to be snapped because he was going to crackle under pressure and pop off to the police.
