Hint to Mike: Money first. Food second. Just like they do it in every fast food place. There is no problem with Dave if you asked him to pay you BEFORE you gave him a hot dog.
He’ll simply have to make an example of this unknown fellow by reporting him to his boss. There’s no reason to accept thievery just because you don’t know the guy. This guy probably pulls thie same stunt on many other teenage sales workers.
My family is full of deadbeats like that. They threatened me with violence if I didn’t loan them money, they never paid any of it back and they even stole things from my house. They are now banned from my property and I have no contact orders against them.
Years ago, my life circumstances took a plummet unexpectedly all at once, leaving me with a divorce, an unexpected and expensive move, and an undiagnosed illness without sick pay. I was mortified when I could not pay a friend several hundred dollars for work she had done for me, nor the back rent for a landlady who had been patient with me. But my mother passed away a couple of years later, and the very first thing I did with the bit of inheritance she left was to contact those ladies and send them checks. They were astonished to get the money, and wished me well, and expressed their sympathy at my paying the debts back because of losing my mother. But Mom is the first one who would have wanted it that way! (See previous post about my 2 brothers, lol!) It felt so good to be able to do that.

as if Dave was a friend to begin with (is it a good thing LAWRENCE doesn’t take advantage of Michael?)

That’s no friend. That’s also why you get the money up front before you hand over the food.

I despise that kind of people. Free loaders. Hustlers. Mike, dump him as a friend if he is even your friend. Fast.

And so now Mike learns to get the money before he gives the food. This will come out of his pocket.

It is amazing that people like that usually have no clue as for the reason you are mad at them.

You pay first then get the food…that’s the way it works.

This awful dilemma made for a good story and teachers told me they presented it to their classes as an example for discussion.
