The main office of my high school had a big poster of an erosion scene (Natural Bridge or some such) with a caption reading “Nature’s Great law Is Change.” On the secretary’s desk was a small placard which said “Sorry, this office cannot make change.”
Typical conflict between ideals. Beautiful flowers planted back from sidewalks in areas where green grass also is considered an important ‘appearance feature.’
Visited my dad at the VA Hospital. Walking across the campus I saw a very unique tree and walked on the path toward it. It was still quite a way off and I could see a plaque posted in front of it. I walked to it hoping it named the type of tree it was. It didn’t. It said “Keep off the grass.”

Maybe the flowers have a very strong scent.

…signs, signs, everywhere there’s signs…

Conflicting signs. There’s a street I drive on regularly with 40 MPH stenciled on the pavement and 25 MPH on a signpost on the curb.

I don’t see a contradiction. One sign invites enjoyment of nature, while the other advises to refrain from using a certain drug. :)

Cannabis buds are sold as “Flower” in legalized shops.
At least that’s what I heard…

It says to take the time to smell the flowers. It doesn’t say you should actually smell the flowers.

It’s a little like being in a museum – “Look” but “Don’t touch.”

There are conflicting aphorisms for almost everything. One of my favorite pairs is:
(1) Blood is thicker than water.
(2) You can pick your friends, but you’re stuck with your relatives.
