Actually, those could be very helpful.

Some markets create long snake-like aisles to approach the checkout so you have to pass by yards of displays of candy and other impulse buy crap.

I have saying FOR YEARS that my store needs traffic lights!

We have grocery stores so big that you can’t see the other side because of the curvature of the earth.

If they get any larger, you’ll have to eat the food before paying for it just to avoid starving to death.

I’ve been in a couple of them that felt like this.

Need a sign: no carts in the middle of the aisle.

And then there was the COVID era “one way” arrows on the aisle floors, that no one paid attention to.

ah yes… those Covid days…!

I remember when super-size grocery stores were few, and “corner stores” were patronized by people who didn’t have cars. In our town, the small family-owned stores lasted into the early 1960s. The family lived in rooms above the stores and the wife and children of the owner helped run things: A true family business.

I remember elderly women trudging along the sidewalks pulling upright stair-climbing carts to bring home a few groceries at a time. They didn’t drive cars, maybe never even owned one. It was a treat to have their grown children or grandchildren drive them to a big store like Kroger or A&P. And somewhat intimidating.

But the “corner store” kept them still somewhat independent, and they usually talked a while with the store owner.

This is what Walmart did back in the COVID days.

No u-turns either.

Now if they would just add some signage telling people where to place their carts in the parking lot.

Is that before or after they get done re-arranging all the shelves, to put in all the self-checkouts?

Please don’t park your giant cart diagonally across the isle.

Wally World did a big remodel. Took out shelves, widened and stretched others, turned some at right angles, Probably might have avoided customer confusion if they had moved the signs designating different departments to their new locations. Would also help if their sales staff had maps.

Anyone remember the stupid one way signs stores had during the pandemic in the first couple of years ? They thought that would help people keep their distance to reduce the spread of Covid

This would be illegal in most states, unless they were also posted in Spanish.

Now if only the grocery stores would make aisles wide enough so that two people can be side-by-side without bumping into one another.
