The DUNderheads and ding-dongs of GoCo meant to make short work of the residents of Froglandia, so the uprising they met on the landing grounds threw a tizzy into their machinations.

… you want us to write down what we thought in our own words,ma-am?…

… why can’t I scribble down things we’ve mentioned from our other comments?…

…I won’t change any words to make it look like I’m thinking for myself…

…Prince Thun : Your Majesty, we, the people of Ardentia, we have suffered since you blasted our kingdom. I can offer you nothing this year, except my loyalty…

…Klytus : Prince Thun, we prize nothing more highly. And tell us, how great is this loyalty to your emperor?…

    …Prince Thun : Without measure…

…The Emperor Ming : We are delighted to hear it; fall on your sword…

…The Emperor Ming : Show us this loyalty, throw yourself onto your sword…

…Prince Thun : [Prince Thun unsheathes his sword] May this deed of Prince Thun be an example to all the kingdoms of Mongo; Death to Ming!…

…oh how I hate it when they use unnecessary exclamation marks!!!!!…

Testing for regurgitation of memorized facts tests for the ability to memorize facts. Teaching the ability to think for oneself must be tempered with teaching the ability to recognize the difference between facts and wild opinion – i.e. a solid understanding of the scientific method.

I hate when this happens! I also hate the fact that FA is unfairly getting screwed! Can you believe this? This cartoon, original, funny, weird, thought provoking, artistic, brilliant ideas is being left out in the “new streamlining” event of GC! I have to say, the many followers are SHOCKED BEYOND BELIEF! AND here, are so many OTHERS on this site who only post once a week, a month, and here, FA is a daily constant, with new and fresh toons, ideas and refreshing humor! I would THINK that’s what “GC” is looking for….a brilliant master mind of humor and wit! EVERY DAY ! I’m sure if FA is cut, many paying patrons will cease to exist…and thus cutting into the GC budget….now does that sound like a reasonable thought? What business TODAY, WANTS TO LOSE MONEY? ?

Is FA being dropped or are commenters assuming that? Where is it written?

And perhaps herein lies the rub with the Frog Applause conundrum. Those outside the herd mentality are rarely appreciated in their time. But, we shall not surrender!

Cut up some of the fallen limbs in the yard and brought them in to lay a fire in the fireplace. The “kindling” turns out to burn quite hot, but also somewhat slowly. The warmth supplied by an armful of normal wood can be produced by a handful of these sticks, and they produce nearly no ash. I have never seen anything like it. There is enough, I think, stacked outside, to last several seasons here. There was frost this morning. I could have used a fire last night, but hadn’t known that I didn’t need to bring in wood. Whatever it is, this material is dense, yet lightweight. I’m guessing there is some sort of natural polymerization creating long carbon chains that break down slowly, but have a high energy density. It looks like the oxidization is entirely superficial, and the sticks sort of “melt” as they burn. As I have time now, I will conduct a search of the house and outbuildings for a clue as to where I am. Wherever it is, I’m pretty sure it isn’t “Kansas”.
