Amen Brother. Believe that Gil has coached a couple of players into MLB contention (Joe Sharky, Larry Cutter?) but I can’t remember any Milford athlete ever trying out for the NFL or NBA. Is it time now? Right now would say Chance needs much better numbers against much better competition to get on somebody’s Top 50 Running Backs list.
Mm, didn’t Trey Davis make the NBA? Jarvis White made MLB as well. But that aside, what are the numbers? That something like one starting RB in Division I so much as makes it as far as a NFL training camp, and the average career length of any RB that actually makes a roster is two and a half seasons?
In all reality , Chance the key to happiness in life is having low expectations . Instead of the NFL think high school gym teacher / football coach. Wow , thanks Mohamed never thought of that . Okay were do I sign , hey Coach go make the announcement over the school loud speakers . Thanks . Bye !
Does he want a future in the NFL or an education to prepare him for some other occupation? If he wants a career in the NFL he should be looking at the letters to find a school that has the highest % of players drafted. If he wants a job requiring an education he should be looking at the letters to see what colleges offer the best programs in his field of interest. In either case he should be looking at the damn letters.
P4- Coach Montel? The offer you haven’t offered yet sounds enticing. I will redshirt, play 2 seasons, go on my 2 year church mission, then finish up my 2 years of eligibility. The way I see it, seven years of college down the drain. Might as well join the Peace Corps.
Pretty mature attitude, I suppose, if his reluctance is about potential injuries and general wear-and-tear on his body. If it’s more about “what’s in it for me?”, as a former DIII athlete, kind of hard to relate.
P 4: “…and how likely is it that you guys will still be coaching at this school in the next year or two? Unlike grandpa here (points thumb at Gil) it seems like college coaches at big schools change schools every year. Then what Homer? …I get stuck on a team with coaches who don’t want me? (listen to U of Illinois coach press conference a couple of weeks ago)…what kind of promise can you make in case that happens?…”
C’mon gang! It’s a trick to see if he recruiter is honest. Ahmad as hell, passed and State wins the Milford HS lottery. NCAA playoffs here they come. Unless, of course, the SEC exists in Go Comics land.
Chance’s elbows slip off that shining table and he knocks himself unconscious. Concussion protocol keeps him out for the rest of the year and Milford finishes second in the valley. Good bye scholarship
P4 “Then Screw the NFL Coach Simpleton…errrrr…Simpkins, what kind of pull does State U have for landing me a sweet NIL deal…say seven figures at least…I’m listening
I like how Chase has shown basically no interest in college football, and yet now he suddenly feels he’s a pro prospect. At least Montel is letting him down easy. And speaking of easy, what could be more easy than going to the following link to read today’s Mopped Up Thorp?

Come on, Ahmad, you’re a college recruiter. Promise him the moon if that’s what it takes.

Wrong answer, Coach Simpkins.
Try: “Yes, absolutely!”
