I only said that,in the sense that given the metal ones being so hot, that you could conceive “theoretic and comical” uses for it. – Also, I said it in thinking about how here in the Mid Atlantic, people have all sorts of tricks on a cold morning. Hey, Tiffany, Bernice! Go easy on Piro, girls! The guy is obviously badly hungover and isn’t even awake yet; he still hasn’t even opened his eyes as he hears these impatient voices hectoring him while he’s in a dream state and not able to focus. How cooperative and useful he may be when and if he does wake up is another question, but we’re not there yet!

I knew guys in college who didn’t function until after 1pm….Piro must be one of them

While it DOES seem that Piro is hung over ( or addled from some other chemical consumption ), I think there is still a reasonable chance that in the end, Greg will show Prio is just sleepy… and even though a bit remote… that he may have narcolepsy.

I would not say that she is trying to study 24/7… in fact, it would appear from the story arcs featuring her, that she has done relatively modest studying thus far. And, as anyone who has gone from high school to college knows, it is a whole helluva lot different in college courses than high school courses (for the most part). Perhaps Bernice should be studying a lot more at least until she sees how she will perform on her first tests in her first semester? That is what I tell my students when I teach a first semester freshman class: "I recommend you study at least 4x harder for each of your classes than you did in high school…. at least until you see how you perform on the first test in each course. I have seen (and heard) far, far too many kids, usually with tears in their eyes in my office after they earn a 40% on their first test from me…. usually saying things like, “I never got a grade lower than an A before!”

I really wasn’t wishing or suggesting Dez would be a guy. I was just being silly suggesting the way-over-the-top idea of Piro being a “Chas Bono” sort of situation. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Someday, somewhere, somehow…. Greg may eventually allow us to meet Dez… but I do applaud him in using the “hidden Dez” technique. It has been a lot of fun (IMHO) so far.

By the way, Bernice, WHAT should you so be studying? We haven’t seen you in class or holding a book. And shouldn’t you actually be in class right now?

Finally, Bernice says something right. If Tiffany devoted as much time and effort to school as she does to being a social butterfly, she might actually learn something. But, this is a comic strip, so don’t expect the kids to spend any time in class.. True role models (like Delta) are just too boring.

I always assumed Gunther was the one that was hard-working but not necessarily of superior intelligence. Rather, Bernice came across as the latter to me. She was still named Valedictorian even though we constantly saw her sitting on Luann’s bedroom floor, or (especially in the earlier comics) on the phone with, Luann. -However her being intelligent in academia does not mean that this transfers over to other parts of her life. It doesn’t mean she’s wise, or that she’s mature.
