What Nancy doesn’t realize is that this is Frank’s “secret strategy” for a successful night’s sleep… – Step 1, "delegate"…Frank turns over and lets Nancy’s “pot o’ thoughts” brew for a minute or two…Step 2, “results orientation”. Nancy reasons it out, thereby Frank avoids being “yelled at”, in case his idea was stupid.Step 3, “the confirmation”. Frank was almost at the last step, before Nancy discovers she’s the “secret” behind Frank’s “secret strategy”. Normally , this last step is Frank’s “signing off” on the whole thing, producing what’s known as a “win win”. Nancy has the bright ideas, she formulates the reasoning and comes up with an effective “plan of action”. Frank agrees, “looks smart” for doing it, and everyone comes off smelling like roses. – Oh, so close, Frank- so close !!!!

I have five Pru theories going:

    1) Pru will be Col Zebo’s long lost sister only weirder but twice as annoying2) Pru will be Dez’ long lost mother only kookier but not as sweet3) Pru will be Piro’s long lost transgender twin but only more mysterious and not as sulky/pouty4) Pru will be Mr Grey’s long lost estranged wife without the deep mobster ties but with better fashion sense5) All of the above

Nancy: We don’t even know how long Pru will be here. She’ll probably leave once the show opens.

I wonder if this is a setup for Pru to stay longer than expected? Or maybe Frank and Nancy will actually ask Prudence how long she will need or want to stay.

I wonder if Pru is running a version of the scam outlined by Leo Bloom in “The Producers”, where she arranges backing for several thousands more than she’ll need to produce the show, then writes and produces a play so awful that only a handful of local kids goes to see it, it closes on Page 2 of the script, and the backers never find out how much the play actually cost to put on.

This would explain why she’s willing to do all this for free from the De Groots’ point of view, and the generally slipshod nature of the communications so far. Pru expects the show to fail, that’s the whole plan!

The whole romantic triangle was never anything more serious than Luann’s overactive imagination, linked to her insecurities about her future. Delta is off growing up, and Bernice is at least taking on more adult responsibilities at a proper university.

Meanwhile Luann is doing nothing any more academically challenging than feeding the ego of an avant-garde ninny whose artistic talent and brilliant, ground-breaking vision has left him teaching first-year art in a local community college.

She’s not maturing as quickly as her best friends, and is inventing a romantic crisis (quite possibly driving Quill away), as a means of distracting herself from her real-life situation.

From yesterday, I was given the “moniker” of being “Neville Chamberlin” who was of course the U.K Prime Minister through part of 1940. His primary claim to “fame” is his willingness to “lay-down” to the wishes of the Nazi Regime. Well, as I can easily ascertain that being given this moniker was meant as a “slam” of sorts because I happen to be able to see both perspectives in regard to the two “warring” factions here in Luann’s comment section…. I will willingly accept this slam, with the following caveats:1. I get the idea that the two warring groups seemingly relish sniping and snapping at each other all the day long in these comments. 2. I get also that these two warring groups consist of about 3-4 “Defenders of Luann Liberty” and perhaps 3-4 “Foreign Invaders of the Luann Commentary”. I will let each member of the warring factions decide which moniker they fit into best, for to me there is overlap on both sides. 3. In my Neville-ish sort of way (Did Neville smoke a pipe? Yes, I believe he did, perhaps that is my “problem” eh?) all I have been suggesting to the warring factions… and to the generally much larger number of “Switzerland-like” commenters on this site… live and let live. Harping back and forth between the two factions is getting to the point where it occupies on some days up to 1/2 of the comments on the site. The sniping at each other is to me not particularly enjoyable to read or have to skim through to get to actual comments on the comic, Luann. This is NOT Nazi-era Europe. The stakes here are not life-or—death. Therefore, being coined “Neville” is not (to me) a bad thing. I think a Neville Chamberlin approach of letting all folks be able to voice their opinions here without filling the board with crabbing and sniping at each other IS an appropriate and aspirational goal TO have here. I wish we could do that. My hope and wishes will likely go unfulfilled, but it is still what would be (for me and I presume many others here) more enjoyable and interesting for the majority of us to be able to have here. This is “Neville”, signing off.

4For me today, I still find the hemming and hawing about rent or no rent to be strange. Luann’s feelings about having Pru be in her home…. that is a valid concern, of course, but that is currently only a rather ancillary aspect of Nancy and Frank’s discussion. The rent issue is further “made strange” to me with the idea that…. how long would Pru likely be here? Logically, she may arrive just before Thanksgiving, and a “Holiday” show would likely run AT MOST until mid-January. So, the whole rent discussion is really about two months of rent at most. This seems so strange to me as a focal point of the comic. I will wait to see what happens, but it seems too strange.

“Yes, let’s keep pretending I’m not insulted, ever. I don’t even have to make an initial post and I get insulted. So I really have no idea what you’re talking about, here.”^You might as well show the parts where you dragged me into something I wasn’t even commenting on, just to use my (and another person’s) comment to “disguise” your attacks at the other two posters in a sort of “mommie dearest (passive aggressive)” sort of way, as follows…

Implausible said, about 12 hours ago@IamJayBluE@BrdshttLOL!

Please don’t encourage personal insults. While I don’t always see eye to eye with BuckarooDave, I would never liken him to a baby bird as Brdshtt as done. – (me, in response to the comment @Implausible:)“Please don’t encourage personal insults….”^You don’t even know what I was "LOL"ing about!!! And it wasn’t that, even!!!– Furthermore, the last part of your sentence is one of a “passive aggressive” nature. This is the thing that Prof fails to see, about why people respond as they do to you…

“What were you commenting on then? If you don’t quote the poster, then everyone will perceive your comment as responding to their last comment. It’s why I make a point to quote. Should you continue to post without quotes, I will continue to perceive it this way, and comment as such.”^You know very well that I wasn’t a part of the conversation that you used my comment for. At the time I responded, the picture you referred to wasn’t even visible on my screen, at the time. – But that still doesn’t take away from the fact that you could’ve asked me at that point what my “LOL” was for, and not just assume . Moreover, it also doesn’t take away from the fact that you used my comment (as clearly reposted above) to drag me into something that I wasn’t even having a share in…

“You don’t get to toss out an insult towards me and have that be the end of it, sorry, I get to defend myself. Now we can be done if you’d like.”^And you don’t get to falsely accuse people of insults towards you. Nowhere did I even use an insulting word towards you. Nowhere did I even comment towards you yesterday. And today I didn’t respond to you, but you decided to bring up something that again should have been over with yesterday. I commented to another poster, then you come in and (again assume who I was talking to, instead of asking for clarity right then and there, like a mature person. You implicated something about me, and you went and insulted someone, using a comment of mine that wasn’t even part of whatever discussion you were referencing. That was when it was over and done. And now you’re trying to “get the last word”, and doing so with erroneous information, as again, you took the time out to drag me into something from yesterday , that I had no part of in the first place.

I don’t agree with that…you need to find a renter. I even doubt that Luann’s not renting out her room. Its not fair to charge somebody for rent just because of their talent. If you were going to do that, then why let her stay with you at all? Your daughter doesn’t feel comfortable around her. Your being really unfair here Nancy.

Of the parade of new characters, I give Dez a B, Viper a C+, Piro a D, Sun a B+ because she’s cute & would be a good friend, Hair gets a D, Prudence an incomplete, Mr. Gray an A- because he has potential, and the art professor a B. But, over all, the strip has been cumbersome and confusing. Only the sexual tension between Gunther and Tiffany holds my interest. Quill and Luann flatlined a long time ago, but there could be something interesting between Bernice and the strange Piro.

Neville Chamberlin back for a brief moment, casually lighting his pipe as he offers a suggestion to the warring factions:1. You may find today’s “Dinosaur Comics” effort of interest to you. It has a glimmer of my “Chamberlin-esque” quality about it.2. You may also find “Calvin & Hobbes” interesting today, because it may speak to each warring factions own demeanor and ultimate goal.

a possible scenario might be that Luann and Pru become friends and accomplices, recognizing that Quill is stringing two women along.. trying to have it both ways. They band together and Quill is left with neither. I don’t think it will happen but if Quill is trying to have two girlfriends then it could.
