So, no lingerie show, then? I was looking forward to Bern meeting the hostess.

And Bern tries to get the Vulcan hand greeting right but spaces the wrong fingers. LOL

What a delightful development.

A surprisingly satisfying end to this arc! Bravo, Greg!

Nice cap to this arc. After Sunday Puddles, Monday’s “Luann” will jump to another venue.

I hope this doesn’t become Candorville with all the Star Trek references

Tiffany OKs Gunther and the Gunther tag along when she probably would have again rejected Bernice if she showed up by herself.

And to those who predict there can be no change to their personalities….

“Move along, move along. Everything to see here.”

Meanwhile Dez and Tara are out front wondering, “Where is Luann? She said we were going to a lingerie party.”

Of all the characters in the original Star Trek, Spock probably is a better fit for Gunther than anyone else.

Love those Spock ears. Maybe this is the beginning of new lifestyles for each of them. Certainly the girls are all reaching out beyond their co fort zo new. I like where this seems to be headed.

“Geek Culture” reigns supreme.

I do hope Luann is ditching Tara in favor of her childhood friends for the time being. They all need each other at the moment.

Being a Trekkie, I enjoy this thread.

Glad Luann decided to stay when Tiffany asked her this time.

And I’m sure Tara wouldn’t mind missing the lingerie party. She wasn’t really enthused about going in the first place.

Well, Ringo, Luann didn’t stay because she likes to intrude. She stayed because Tiff invited her.

And it was Gunther who brought the other “harpy”, as you would have it.

Seems to me that some old rivalries are fading.

What an interesting ending to an interesting arc. Not really a fan of Tara.

And there’s no relationship on this couch or on Star Trek as odd as the pairing of Knute and Crystal.

Why did it ever come down to “Star Trek” or lingerie party? They seem to be on totally separate nights!

THIS is what Tiff really needs….friends to reinforce she is a valued human being.

How much student accommodation for one person has room enough for a sofa that can seat 4 people? Nice things went this way.

okay!!!!!!!!!!! this is real nice :) but does this means that next week 2 other ladies will decide to go ( or try ) to get to the “infamous to us readers” lingerie party?

I don’t really remember Scotty and McCoy palling around much in the original show. Same for Uhura and Kirk. They had scenes together but it was always on a professional level.

I’m reminded of a past strip ( http://www.gocomics.com/luann/2014/9/13 ) during a time when Tiffany, Luann, Bernice and “SkypeDelta” all got together, to comfort one another during their first week of school, because of all the overwhelming changes and unfamiliarity….but mostly, the aloneness they each felt, at that time.

Seems to be that whenever they seek comfort, Luann and Tiffany somehow find themselves in each others’ company. Sorta like how their friendship was (as recounted by Luann), in “the days before Aaron Hill”.

o.k.. Greg must be a trekkie. now they have boldly gone to where none of them (except Gunth) had gone before….. Tiff’s room. And she’s enjoying it. about time there was friendship there. hopefully they all grew up a little bit here. Sadly Monday we’ll have a new story (ho-hum)

I’ve always known the world needed ‘More Trek, Less Hate’.

It’s a lovely homage to the show but he obviously didn’t watch it. The “odd couple” on the show was Bones and Spock. McCoy’s fiery temper and Spock’s cool logic were played off against each other to comic effect in almost every episode.

Bones and Scotty, in contrast, had no particular relationship. Scotty worked by himself in the engine room, or whatever it was called. Using the two of them as an example of a friendship on the show is like saying someone scored a point in baseball.

I hate to nit pick. It’s not like it matters or anything! This show is a perfect choice for a nerdy, friendly, innocent thing to do together. And Gunther’s costume is adorable. No complaints. It’s just an odd set of friend pairs to anyone who watched the show.

Is it just me or is this the first time in a long time that Bernice has been seen as being close to happy?

I prefer The Next Generation. Their doctor is a lot prettier.

Too bad Delta’s not there. She could be Uhura. Or Michael.

I think that our little friends have gone past Star Trek right into the Twilight Zone.

Tiffany’s illness has done the impossible by drawing together this foursome out of the simple goodness in their hearts. There’s hope for mankind – at least in Luann.

I assume they are watching the pilot episode.

Star Trek: Voyager? (Very Strong Woman as Captain)

Enterprise? (A misunderstood series, which really picked up late in the second season. It’s just that awful theme song)

Star Trek: Discovery? (Not Bad. Not exactly “Canon,” but not bad. STILL it’s UNFORGIVABLE what they did to the Klingons.)

Did the Gang LIE to Us and They are ACTUALLY watching “The Orville?”

Where is this arc going. If this is the climax and next week starts a different arc then this is the biggest nowhere arc in recent memory. A pox on Greg’s writers!

I like it. It’s a nice ending to the week’s story.

This is such a nice way to end this arc. They are friends after all and now they are together supporting Tiffany, and each other. This is what friends are for.

Maybe by next week they’ll be tired of Star Trek and they’ll all go to the lingerie party.

I think that I will watch a lot of Star Trek (all the series) this month.

Spock only wanted to get laid every seven years. But Gunther’s first pon farr has not yet arrived.

Enough with the “what happened and when is the lingerie party?” If you are anticipating naked women parading in flimsy lingerie, forget it. That is not Greg’s style and this is a family strip. He will keep the “lingerie party” behind closed door. Nothing beyond that.

Tiffany is smiling at the end, and Star Trek TOS showed basic lessons in life (kindness, tolerance, reaching to understand, etc.). Some say it was too heavy handed at times, but I like how this concluded. Maybe Tiff will take her counselor’s advice and open up a bit.

We will return in a week to watch them finish the 78th (?) episode, bleary-eyed except perhaps for Tiffany, who might be unable to sleep. While Bern was asleep someone has taped her fingers so that can’t help not giving the correct Vulcan salute….

I want Bernice to point out that “to boldly go” is a split infinitive.

Is Tiffany’s counselor a Betazoid?

Okay, I’m pretty sure McCoy/Scotty and Uhura/Kirk were never actually portrayed as friends in the original series. The downside of Shatner/Nimoy being the focus of every episode was that the rest of the crew didn’t get much chance to shine at all. Though if I’m wrong, tell me the episode that contradicts me.

Nice. Surprising load of Couch Buddies settle in for the Star Trek marathon. This may require a lot of popcorn….

OK.. at least Gunther and Tiffany are sitting next to one another and the expression on Tiffany’s face suggests she is into watching the series. These two aspects I like. I do hope that Gunther brought Bern so that Tiffany could get used to being around friends again, not because he is still after her.

One thing I notice is that Tiffany’s room is drawn (lately) in a very grey and drab fashion (grey walls), just like her grey outfit. Before the start of her trouble, the room was bright and inviting, the walls white with pictures (of her albeit). And there were things like heart shaped cushions on the couch. The room décor seems to reflect Tiffany’s mood.

And so it all gets down to the original characters, together. Works for me.
