As I used to write on the top of my Latin tests: " Nemo dat quod non habet " ( You can’t give what you don’t have )
I took six years of Latin ( I count summer school and tutors ) to pass four !
As much as I hated Latin back then, I have to admit, it gave me a great base for learning other Romance languages – French, Spanish and Italian were particularly easy – but I never could master Portuguese.
Love that there’s actually an intellectual cartoon. Bravo. The self aggrandizing idiotic partisan political comments only distract from Wiley’s excellent work. Keep your politics to yourself.

My motto (if I had one) would be “Veni, Vidi, Cafinatti” — I came, I saw, I drank coffee.

The present regime could use Car Talks motto “Non Impediti Ratione Cogitationis”.
Which means “unencumbered by the thought process”.
mr_sherman Premium Member about 7 years ago
I had to copy that from my Car Talk mug.

To blatantly steal from Monty Python, “I drink, therefore I am”. And I’ll toss in “In Vino Veritas.”
