Get used to modern marketing. They’ll sing the praises of the product’s virtues to the heavens, accompanied by pictures of smiling people engaging in fun activities under cloudless skies, backed by cheerful, uplifting music, then cram 50 awful side effects into tiny print read in 5 seconds by someone with a post-doc from Evelyn Wood and an apprenticeship under John Moschitta.
I could have been super wealthy this week. I got an email telling me we won a class action lawsuit. I knew of it…but nothing about it. Got an email last night telling me of my pay off. $0.43, my conscience wouldn’t allow me to accept it!
You must always follow your conscience, but you must always know where you’re going. So you can’t follow your conscience. Cause it may not be going the same way you are.
The ads from Vegsas show the ten people leaving in a limousine, they don´t show they ninety people who leave in a greyhound because they have lost their car.
If you’ve ever tried to make cold calls (phone or in person) then you know this is a MUCH tougher job than non-sales folks can possibly understand. Though I guess if you have no conscience, then you’re not constrained about what kind of BS you’re selling.
Good timing! Members of my family were up North this past week. One rainy evening we all sat around talking about what foods we no longer will buy due to the ingredients and side effects. That led to FDA alerts about food recalls and deaths. That morphed into the connections between the obesity epidemic and our symptom/for profit health care system and better alternatives. I had trouble going to sleep that night.
I went to google translate to learn how to something in Hindi to the scammers that claim to be “from my TV service”.It’s Bhaad mein jai dalit. F off you Dalit, the untouchable caste in India, a real insult to anyone from another caste.I haven’t had any of those in the days since I learned it.
I built a telemarketing setup for one employer. There were two-line phones and one-line phones, and a great deal of screeching by the one-liners. One guy tried swapping his phone for a two-line. He then complained his phone didn’t work. The phone switch id’d each phone on each line and moving them caused them to fail. I switched them back and told him to talk to his manager. I also talked to his manager and never had any more problems with the phones.
I always read the warnings that come with a new prescription. My doctor apparently does not. He was offended when I told him he had prescribed a medication which, according to all the warnings and side effects, I should never use.
I used to hate telemarketers, but then I realized they have one of the worst jobs in the world. Then their jobs got outsourced overseas, and now it’s all done by computers.
I always remind myself that it isn’t the fault of the salesperson on the phone. They’re doing the only job they could get, it’s miserable, everybody you call hates you, and you don’t even make enough to pay the rent.
The people in charge of the telemarketing company, on the other hand, are total trash.
Apparently consciousness and a working finger is all that is required in my state to be ineligible for disability payments because of all the remote possibilities for employment

In these treacherous modern times, a conscience seems to be far more rare than mere unicorns….,

If we ever have a conscience vote in parliament again, a lot of members will need to have the idea explained to them.

I thought a conscience was only considered an OSHA liability for politicians and lawyers.
