Are the Clydesdales in the parade anymore? I don’t think so. After the foreigners bought A-B, they first changed the St. Louis float, which was generously supported by A-B, to the A-B float, but the last couple of times I tried to check I didn’t even see them listed in the parade anymore.
My daughters & I always loved to watch the Rose Parade. Sometimes I would have to explain who the Grand Marshall is; they would gauge his/her importance by my reaction. LOL We’re all so sad that there isn’t going to be one this week.
Isn’t New Year’s Day Friday? And because of the COVID-19 pandemic (even with vaccines now rolling out into early to mid 2020) there won’t be a Tournament of Roses Parade this 2021 New Year but ABC and NBC will air Tournament of Roses Parade reimagined retrospective specials in the in person and live parade’s place.
Remember watching the Rose Parade in the late 1960’s in my aunt’s house in northwest CT. She had a color TV, unknown in my household. I’ll tell you, the Rose Parade was a big deal to us back then!
Been to the Rose Parade twice with my high school marching band. Both times we were in somewhere before the first group of horses, so that was good. One year we came in 5th and the next time we were there we place 3rd. Turns out some high schools take this thing seriously.

Is the Grand Marshal roasted or do they salt him down?

My sister watches only for the floats, I don’t think she would even care who the Grand Marshal is…

Watching parades on TV. I don’t criticize other people for liking what they like, but this is something I simply don’t understand. Oh well.

I can think of no better reason to celebrate the New Year this year simply because it won’t be 2020 anymore.
I will put a paycheck on 2021 ending better than it starts.

Did some research. Guess who was the Grand Marshal of the 1974 Rose Parade: Sparky, himself, Charles M. Schulz!

Been to the Rose Parade many times, but the first was the most memorable. We slept on the sidewalk in front of a Carl’s Jr. #FightOn

Is there any way of finding out if Charles Shulz was the Grand Marshal of the parade in 1974?
Charlie Tuba over 3 years ago
That was the year (1974) I marched with a sousaphone in the Los Angeles All-City High School Band. I don’t recall what pieces we played.
Oh, and Schulz was the Grand Marshall!

I’m guessing the joke was related to the fact that Charles Schulz was Grand Marshall of the 1974 Rose Bowl Parade.

I’ve lost count on how many people knew that Schultz was honored that year. Thanks people. The real joke would be lost if you didn’t know that fact.

I never watched the Rose Bowl parade. I am from Philly, so we watched the Mummers Parade instead.

Close as he ever came to breaking the 4th wall! (And I remember seeing him in that parade on TV.)
