Coming Soon 👀 At the beginning of April, you’ll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Marcie needs to wear glasses for her poor eyesight, and here is Patty repeatedly and rudely telling her that she has no wish to be seen wearing them. She’s not very sensitive to Marcie’s feelings, is she? This is another one of those times where I wish that Schulz had given Marcie more strips on her own.
Tell Patty that wearing glasses may help her see the ball better and improve her batting average. When selling a product you have to appeal to what the buyer considers to be important.
This is why I have problems at automobile dealerships. I’m interested in safety, reliability, efficiency and utility and the sales person is trying to tell me how sexy and masculine the car will make me. It’s a family sedan! Besides I’m sexy and masculine enough without the car :)
This is before regular eye exams were recommended for kids. In 4th grade my grades nosedived. But it wasn’t until the 6th, when I mentioned to Dad I couldn’t read the blackboard from my desk, that I finally got checked.

Without glasses I always thought that Peppermint Patty looks just like the red head kid on The Partridge Family.
What’s his name? Not David Cassidy. His brother, Danny something.

Another rare instance of a pop culture reference in Peanuts.

Well, at least he’s someone that Marcie could legitimately call “Sir.”

Well no one will ever confuse Peppermint Patty with a Tiny Dancer.

She’d need to see an orthodontist as well to get a gap made between her two front teeth.

Elton John was referred to twice in this strip that I know of. I’m sure he was flattered.

Going back to the 1960’s—-Linus wore glasses for a brief time(“He looked like a little owl,it broke my heart”,says Lucy).
And there was Sally’s much publicized eyepatch period 1965-66—Amblyopia.

Lack of glasses doesn’t seem to hurt Patty’s ballgame.
