I’m with Earl on this one. Give it up Opal. You’re fighting a loosing battle.

It occurs to me that forced air heating / cooling is basically just what Opal’s doing: Sucking air through a filter and pushing it back out a ittle cleaner.

It looks like she’ vacuuming an imaginary Wookie.

They say cleanliness is next to godliness, but wouldn’t over-cleanliness be overkill?

I know a few places where it’s a daily job in a household.

I wish someone could come and dust my place. Someone less lazy than I am.

An air filter might do a better job.

That’s what an air purifier does, and you don’t have to wave it around.

“Dust in the Wind”!

I vacuum the air in my hope and office, too. I use one of those air purifiers, though, because I’m not a loon. :)

Nelson your Grandma is set on “Clean” mode ! Stay out of her way ;-)

Soon she’ll need a bigger vacuum.

Get MERV 13 furnace filters.

Send her over to Crankshaft. Maybe she can do something to fix the walls over there.

That is the basic principle of an air purifier.

I didn’t realize they live in Oklahoma!

I have two air purifiers that take care of this problem.

Time to replace the furnace filters.. and keep the doors and windows closed.

Get an air purifier….not the hose….LOL

After this, Opal is going to sit down and do some reading. Her favourite author is Fyodor Dustoevsky!

By dusting the way she does, Opal is putting the dust in the air herself.

I figured it out long ago, dust only once a year or so-it’s all back in a day.

It’s when Opal bends over that I get scared.

In the words of Quentin Crisp, “After four years the dust doesn’t get any worse,”

And I thought it was odd that my neighbor was vacuuming the pine needles from under her outdoor pine tree.

If you have a HEPA filter in your vacuum, it gets those last, heavy dust motes out of the room.

When my wife’s uncle was dying of lung cancer, she went & sat with his wife the last few days. She told me that people would come to pay respects – and as soon as they left, Auntie would grab the vacuum & suck their footprints out of the carpet. Not dirt they tracked in, the actual footprints. And this was completely in character; when She told me, my response was “Of course she did.”

It’s good to see Nelson isn’t too overscheduled today and gets to spend time with Earl.

Psst Opal, we shed between 30,000 and 40,000 skin cells every day - better to dress everyone in a hazmat suit - at least for a few generations after the dust-mites are gone.

I don’t think she is too far off on doing that but the machine is way too small!

I have 2 portable HEPA filters that get most of the dust from the fireplace and catbox.

Dust never sleeps.

Watch where you stick that thing Opal!

Back in the middle 60’s we had a Honeywell Electoral static filter I had to clean in water & vinegar every 2 weeks. Unfortunately my wife & I smoked then People visiting our home remarked it smelled like fresh spring smokeless air, & removed much of the air borne pollen mitigating allergies

I have considered doing this.

A household with BOTH a cat and a dog are destined to need more dusting and vacuuming.

It’s that darn sunlight that highlights the particles. I close the drapes. Problem solved.

Went to an active air filter as part of updating to air conditioning for exactly this reason.

The longer I read Pickles the more I am convinced the author has been looking in our windows or at least recording our conversations.

Cannot stop dust settling.

Maybe it’s time to get an air filter.

Dusting with a feather duster just blows it in the air. You need to spray some anti-static on it to collect it. Also, install a hepa room air filter.Most of that dust is skin flakes, so maybe the elderly are crumbling faster

I was trying to take pictures inside one house, and it was hard to breathe.

Some vacuums allow small amounts of dust to leak out when running. The floor or carpet might be cleaner, but the air will temporarily be dirtier. When vacuum makers started using HEPA filters to trap dust that would otherwise have escaped, they advertised vacuuming would make the air in the room cleaner.
