It wouldn’t be that hard Earl if you gave a good compliment to Opal.

Nice hair! How long have you had hair?

Signs of being together for a ‘long time’.

Pretty much the same one she wears in every strip. Maybe she has a whole closet full of them.

It seems they each only own a few items of clothing and wear them over and over. Guess that’s part of growing old, I find myself doing the same thing.

In the future Opal probably should just “Thank you.” if Earl gives a compliment like saying “Nice shirt.” Anything more than that potentially sets Earl up for ruining it.

Opal must philosophize, “I cook and clean, therefore I am.”

Earl , You pay and pay and pay…….

Earl, your too old to be making rookie mistakes.

Maybe she’ll be more receptive next time you try.

I’ve had a few similar conversations. I finally learned to not ask if it’s new, just leave it at “You look nice.”

Better comment: “That shirt looks nice on you.”

A nice Valentine theme however is it really Roscoe who Earl loves???

Roscoe in this strip today is acting exactly like my dog most days. If I am reading or napping she is right there, always within reach, sometimes with her head on my leg, just happy for us to be together. It makes me happy, too.

there is something relaxing in the comments contemplating a fictional character’s life and wardrobe. I enjoy the comic and the comments it brings.

Yes, she’s worn it before! She wears that same blouse every strip!

Sure, he looks at her, but he’s always undressing her with his eyes.

Frankly I am sick of that shirt.

Maybe, if Opal was a little less down on Earl, then she would be a little more up on herself.
