    3 aspires to someday be an irrational number in the mathematical sense, while 6 considers that aspiration to be proof that 3 is already irrational in the ordinary sense.

    But… 3 CAN be expressed as the ratio of two integers, and ISN’T irrational. (Now, if it had been √3, or π, both would be correct.) Or is that the joke – that they’re being irrational about their rationality?
