I absolutely love the pace of this strip. That extra identical panel with Rover looking down at Red’s book gives the perfect sense of him first pausing and coming out of his squirrel-induced frenzy, and then another beat of him actually seeing the comic Red is reading before being joined by the squirrel. So so good!
Red must be blocking out Rover and squirrel commotion …….. now they’re taking a break to check out what Red is reading ……………… must be a story about a Boy and his Dog & Squirrel ………… :)

Absolutely fantastic artwork. Love da smoke! BTW, now I can’t get the sound track of Weil E. Coyote and Road Runner out of my head. Ha

Ah yes the power of a good comic book. That reminds me the sea monkeys I ordered off of the back page should be here this week.

If he were alive today, would Congreve say the same thing about comics that he did about music?

There is a squirrel that is often in my backyard with half a tail. They aren’t always the fastest.

Comic books were my adolescent escape too. I was told a bomb could go off next to me and I wouldn’t notice. :))

I would be engrossed in my comic book too, even with all the commotion.
