From WikipediaPuck was the first successful humor magazine in the United States of colorful cartoons, caricatures and political satire of the issues of the day. It was founded in 1871 as a German-language publication by Joseph Keppler, an Austrian-born cartoonist.1 Puck’s first English-language edition was published in 1877, covering issues like New York City’s Tammany Hall, presidential politics, and social issues of the late 19th century to the early 20th century.
On the original Puck cover, there’s a subtitle: “As Santa Claus looks to some of us.” That suggests Will Crawford’s intent was to satirize the, shall we say, obligatory nature of some Christmas gift-giving.
Just like the Corleone family, the Claus family had three brothers. The third makes his appearance at 1:54 in this clip. www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DB_7xqqt1Vgs
Ralphie as an adult. He traded his Red Ryder 500 shot with a compass in the stock for a lousy 6 shooter. And as you can see, he did indeed shoot an eye out – his left one.
