I always preferred shoveling snow to mowing the grass unless the snow was super heavy because it was mixed with rain or ice and very heavy. I remember my muscles aching afterwards.

I once lived in Montreal, where the snow was always heavy. I rarely see snow or ice anymore, but there’s always tomorrow.

When I lived in upstate NY, everytime we had a blizzard I’d shovel the driveway even thought the roads were blocked. My last year there I did it 3 days in a row in late May. I moved that fall!

He shoveled all the way to the mailbox. I’d hate to be the one there is no mail today.

It will take a lot more shoveling in order to cut the grass now.

I miss cutting grass too. Not because of snow, it’s because I divorced my first wife and she got the house. I live with my wife now and we live in an apartmnet. I miss being a home owner.

The skiing makes winter worth while. No summer sport works the whole body like Nordic skiing.

Snow shovelling is a big contributor for heart attacks… if you are out of shape, do not overdo it..

no snow here but a 7’ mower behind a 70 hp tractor on 10 acres at 93* with the radiator fan blowing right in your face is not a reason for a party either.

I’m with Brutus. I’d much prefer to mow the yard than shovel snow.

I lived in Montana for several years and that was a regular occurrence before going to work. If you failed to do so, walking or driving over it would turn it to ice and it would last for weeks. Where I live now we get snow only a couple of times a year and it disappears within a day or so. It’s snowing right now.

Since my bad knees keep me from pushing a mower, my old lawn tractor has been pushed into service. Originally only used for mowing back roads on my 32 acre forest tract, it now is a loud hotrod I get to use to control the grass. Wow. What fun.

Of course. The joy of mowing a simple swath through the grass and then admiring your work from a lounge chair with an iced ‘something’ with a paper umbrella and slice of lemon on the rim.

Yeah, right. And then when you’re mowing the lawn you’ll be saying you miss shoveling the snow.

Sounds right to me. Pushing a lawnmower wins out shoveling snow any day for me to. Only advantage to shoveling snow is you might not need to do it every week for Spring, summer and part of Fall as you would for mowing…

Shoveling snow in the Snow Belt is heart attack inducing. Therefore, Brutus the obvious answer is tell Mother Gargoyle she has to shovel your snow if she wants to hang out at your house anymore.

I don’t have to shovel snow or cut the lawn anymore. I moved to a condo. My driveway is full of snow and ice. At least I don’t have to feel guilty for leaving snow and ice all over. It is extremely cold this week. Today the windchill stayed below zero. This morning the windchill was -17F. I can’t remember the last time we got that low.

just got done clearing the driveway (again) and the neighbor ladies’ entrances and our parking area and i’m definitely with brutus on this one. there’s no activity more useless than shoveling snow. day after day after day. at least with cutting the grass you can enjoy what you accomplished for a couple days… ☺

Same! Here outside Buffalo we just had a steady, NON-STOP snow over the weekend! I ADORE my dogs, but digging their backyard trench is getting old.
