Just wait until you’re even older than people you used to consider elderly. Men: Don’t be offended when women say you remind them of their grandfathers.
What is weirder is when peoples’ children that you knew as toddlers are now graduating college or getting married. Of course, THEY are allowed to get older.
I loved it when my 87-year-old mother would talk about “old people” doing this or that. Now that I’m older, I find myself doing the same thing. Mentally, I’m still in my 30’s, but physically, that’s another story.
In Mexico, after you get into your sixties, you are said to be “de la tercera edad”, or in the third stage of your life. There is no fourth stage – I don’t kow if this is a good or bad thing. Even though I’m well into “la tercera edad”, sometimes I am addressed as “señorita” instead of “señora”, which is kind of nice.
just had to smile when our spritely neighbor who’s the same age as me told us that the toothless guy who whiles away his days burning green leaves in his backyard two doors down from our veggie patch, filling the neighborhood with thick smoke, the white-haired guy who looks continually perplexed, was her classmate, same grade. he must’ve seen some rough times, ’cause he looks to be about 110…

My Mom tried to talk my grandmother into attending the senior’s group at church. She said: “I don’t want to be around those old people!”
She was in her 90’s.

I was bummed out when I read a report by a new doctor that started its description of me with “An elderly man…”

yeah… I’ve reached the point where I might refer to someone as old or older, and then realize that I’m the same age as them, if not older! Lol!

Anyone your age or younger is young, regardless of your age. Anyone older is old.
