Wanda will see Darryl playing a ukulele and kiss him. So then Darryl will play a guitar.

Love the tuning ditty. That’s just how I learned to tune my ukulele (which my grandfather gave me and which made my parents SOOOO happy).

You can tune a ukulele all you want but it will still sound like a ukulele, dischordant and annoying.

It’s the family uke. Lighthearted and a bit silly sounding. Can you play the Blues on a ukulele? ‘My Dog Has Flees’ might qualify.

My grandson had a ukulele and one morning I played and sang “Tiptoe through the tulips” to wake him up for school.

Nothing makes a child want to play with a toy more than when one of the parents starts playing with the toy.

""Tiny Tim was a character who played around Greenwich Village in the 50s and 60s, and a lot of people just think that he was a joke. But I’ll tell you – nobody knew more about old music than Tiny Tim did. He studied it and he loved it. He knew all the songs that only existed as sheet music. When he passed away, we lost a national treasure." – Bob Dylan

So many universal truths in today’s strip- from Darryl’s “musical choice” to the toy that is forgotten and unloved until someone else wants to play with it.

    Well done, Kirkman and Scott!

Kids always want what you have, when it’s theirs. Enjoy your dad’s ukulele concert and you can do your own when he is finished. After today, it will be in the closet, untouched and forgotten about for another year

Funny closing ending on an old Roseanne episode when Johnny Galeki and Tiny Tim are sitting in the living room playing “Tip Toe Through the Tulips.” John Goodman walks in and smashes Tiny Tim’s ukelele. All Tiny Tim says “That happens a lot” and goes into his bag and brings out another ukelele.

It’s an evil trick Hammie, don’t let them get you! Theyre trying to do the best thing. Resist the dark side.
