Doll: “How will they know you’re a ventriloquist without me?”
Jeff Dunham, is that you?
“You’re nuthin’ without me either.”
Without me on your lap, nobody cares if you talk without moving your lips!
I wonder what brought this rant up!
Reminds me of a Twilight Zone episode where the dummy takes over. This one, I believe.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dummy
“The Dummy” is an episode of The Twilight Zone starring Cliff Robertson as a ventriloquist.
Shut up! Or I’ll report you for always having you hand where it doesn’t belong‼️
Get that finger out of my face! Oh, wait, the other option is worse.
Some people find clowns to be creepy. They never really bothered me.
Ventriloquists, however…
This probably is a real conversation someone’s had.
The little know sideline of James Cagney, he and his ventriloquist dummy Tommy Powers, before he got his big break.
He must be really feeling like a big strong man to be berating a doll.
Ok, aside from the sometimes-great jokes, just the workload of producing this quality art daily is impressive. Not to mention the ones in New Yorker. d :)
“Oh yeah, well, speak for yourself!!”
When I see one blow smoke while the dummy talks, I’ll be impressed…
Reminds me of Paul Winchell and Jerry Mahoney, a ventriloquist act back in 1960s usually on Ed Sullivan’s Program.
Reminds me of an episode of Twilight Zone (?) where the puppet is actually the one who runs the act.
Horror story trope begins.
Great picture. Nice change.
Is the doll’s name “Willie”? Rod, is that you?
Sez who?
Saw Terry Fator a few years back in Vegas. Now THERE’S a ventriloquist, and he ain’t no dummy!
The dummy in this one reminds me of a Danny O’Day dummy I had more years ago than I care to admit I’ve been alive.
There’s also the character The Ventriloquist, from Batman’s rogues gallery. See:

Chuck you, Farley!
(If I ever have to change my name, I’m changing it to Charles Ulysses Farley. I’ll go by Chuck…)
