My dogs regularly have their noses in that hole. I hope that squirrel smacks them hard. Not to hurt the dogs, but to teach them to keep their noses out of there.
Looks like a golden or a lab. “Hi, there, what are you doing? Do you want to be friends? Can we go for a walk? I won’t eat your acorn. Do you have anything else to eat? It smells different in there.”
It was the cat who walks through walls, not the dog.
Our Black Lab had a squirrel who waited for her every morning so they could play chase. She’d chase, the squirrel went up the usual tree and chittered, and Pax would wag her tail. One morning, Mom & Dad went out in the AM without her, and the squirrel chittered at them, as if to say it had an appointment with our dog.

When you stick your nose into someone else’s business, you should be prepared to be whacked.

Not nice, just being curious.

When your nut is at stake, it calls for desperate measures. Pop the pooch in the snoot.
If the only the only thing you have to defend yourself is a gavel with a short skinny handle, you do your best.
And the dog breath is shocking!

He has to use a mallet because there are no more newspapers to roll up.

Seems rather small to be a squirrel. Looks more like the size of a rat.
